What was the best British car ever made.

Without doubt

50 years on and so believeably adaptable.
Nothing comes close

Agreed, great choice but for the working mans car of it's day, the Austin 1100.

Always loved these these cars. I don't know if they are any good to drive, or are reliable, or utter rot boxes, i just think they are gorgeous....

Not shocked to see the E-type figures so highly. A truly beautiful car in Series 1 or 2 form. A close family friend had a Series 3 however and that was a bit of a pig to look at if I'm honest. Another personal favourite of mine was the Jenson Interceptor although I know all about the problems that beset them in terms of reliability.

Also a shout out to the Mk 2 Jaguar. One of the most iconic cars ever built.

For me it's the XJ12 series 3 jaguar. The best looking saloon car ever made.

Another great shout. I remember back in the mid 1980's my Dad coming home in the Daimler Double Six version of this car that belonged to his boss and it was a truly stunning motor. He (my Dad) later owned an XJ40 and although it was a great car it didn't have the looks of the classic Series 3.

Many years ago I had a Rover 420 GSI for its time it was a beautiful car did 100k in it admittedly it was serviced to spec but only once did it let me down needed a new starter motor, it was quick comfortable a real good family car. they went downhill faster than Franz Klammer when B.M.W. got hold of em.

Still a real shame the Rover brand withered and died the way it did. My Dad had two SD1's and later on a 827SLI fastback and they were all nice cars.
