I went with my new City mates from Stretford Grammar School (we met in the same class in the second year) Les Owen and John Dinsdale

We used to go on a Lingley's coach, I got picked up on Ayres Road at a newsagents on the corner of Northumberland Road

God this takes me back

Remember it kicking off in their end when we scored .

Same for me. Before the game, they were top of 2nd Div, we was 2nd. Remember everyone singing "We'll be top by 5 o' clock".

Remember loads of City fans being escorted to the Darwin (AWAY) End after some serious disorder round the ground.

First away game, mine was leeds early to mid 80s,pretty sure mervyn day was in goal, every window on the bus smashed,on the way back to the station, leeds fans ran on the station ,some one pulled the e,cord nearly everyone piled off and chased the leeds fans off,and the e/cord got some hammer just on the outskirts of manchester with lads jumping off in places like ashton droylsden.

My Dad was great at taking me to away games as a kid! My first was Blackburn at Ewood Park, on my 7th birthday on 15th April 1989. We lost either 4-0 or 4-1. I remember my Dad saying we'll go straight back down from Division 1 if we went up (we didn't! We finished level on points with United in 14th place. The year after we finished above United in 5th!)

It was the same day as the Hillsborough disaster. I remember hearing it on the radio on the way home and me n me Dad were pretty quiet all the way home.

mine was the boxing day festival at stoke city. i remember being 10 years old and seeing maggie thatcher getting bent over the table by batman in a stoke pub. jan molby had escaped from prison that day as well and had come to see city in all his jail clothes. as with all memorable days for blues though, city lost.
