Woke was going to be my suggestion as well, pretty much for this reason that it now gets affixed to so many different and random things that it doesn't make sense. There was a story about 'woke' sandwich fillings a while ago. I mean seriously?!

I’m going to guess the sandwich filling in question was avocado. The avocado is the quintessential woke food item. Either that or quinoa.

I’ve heard people describe football teams playing out from the back as “woke nonsense”. They were totally serious as well.

My theory is that in most instances people are just using it for anything that is modern or different to what they’re used to. Ultimately woke = change. In particular, change they don’t like.
