What would you change about the rules of football?

I’d bring in a rule whereby the main bbc article every day isn’t a different one about changing the rules of football just because the dippers feel hard done by in their latest game. They’re at it again today with the lead story being that Tony fucking pullis would rein var in for the fans. Not sure why this thread was then needed to replicate the same feelings either tbh

Can we change the rule that we have to debate the rules, everytime a big decision goes against Liverpool or Arsenal?

Fuck the dippers and fuck the BBC.

120 posts in 18hrs suggest that it is a topic people want to talk about, just like they would in the pub or at the game.

If you don't like the thread then there are plenty of other ones to read without having to tell other people what they can or cannot talk about.

1) scrap VAR (and with it, daft, ‚forensic‘ offsides)
2) have referees issue yellow cards for all timewasting (not only in the last 10 mins)
3) have referees penalize all the fucking stupid pushing, pulling and above all blocking of other players at set pieces. If needs be, put extra officials next to the goals to spot such infringements.

Don‘t want to see any changes that encourage more and longer stoppages. The absolute bane of modern football. So no VAR, no VAR challenges, no timeouts, no game clock etc.

10 seconds to take a throw-in or it is rewarded to the opposition.
Same for a goal kick - or it's an indirect free-kick or corner.
Pl and FA talk a good game about time wasting but do little in reality.

(Can play about with the seconds.)

If you read what I said it was “In not sure why”, that’s a fairly benign question and nothing like telling other people what they can and cannot talk about. It’s a forum for opinions, and that wasn’t even an opinion, but if you want to be so fucking rude then fuck the bbc, fuck the dippers and fuck you. That better?

Publicly announcing and complaining to PIGMOL! Complain yes but privately than mana city have done quiet a bit not in the public! If any club announces publicly they will be fined 1 million pound! If a manager does it after a game about a decision not going that way banned the manager from 3 premier games and they can’t even go to the ground on match days! All that does is bring a possible bias by referees in future games if you call it out! Every club has bad decisions and we have had 2/3 of the worse ones ever in two big games as well!

finally get the dippers punished for the decades of misery they brought to many.

In truth I'd like to see the following:

  1. Corners actually taken in the region allowed, not on the line where majority of the ball is out.
  2. Freekicks, for players to be behind the 10 yards, try to cheat? then punish said player and move the freekick forward
  3. Everytime the ball is out of play, injurys etc pause the time or at least have a time countdown monitiring the delay so its effecitvely allowing for this time to be added at the end of each half
  4. Time wasting to be punished better, at present refs are not doing anything consistantly for GK's timewasting
  5. Feining injuries, we see it too much where someone like Richarlison will fein injury, but get up quickly to chase the ball. Even if it leads to the other team benefitting whilst play continues, go back and punish the cheat.

much better :)

A lot of the problems are down to players being complete tarts.

Immediate substitution if a player goes down holding their head, no questions asked. Safety first and all that. If you've used all your subs tough. Its no different to a player suffering a broken bone for example and there being no subs left.

Retrospective reviews of dives and feigning injury. If a player is rolling around dying, yet up and sprinting two minutes later, a question needs to be asked. Obviously results can't be changed but retrospective yellows for that would be nice.

I'd like to see players calling out all this play acting too... even if its their own team mates.

Any team who wears red for their home shirt would have a 10 goal deficit at the start of any game they play.
The reasoning behind this is because they are c*nts.

New Dipper rule...If an opposition player is within two yards of the goalkeeper and is in a offside position and he also makes a move in the flight of the ball the goal should stand.

This . Offside in the penalty area is always interfering with play . I honestly think these grey areas have been brought in in order to create discussion points and debates for television . It keeps eyes on the page etc etc . Seems to be working .... the endless coverage whips up the storm , clubs appealing decisions and the referees loose confidence and competence .
That would make Tiatto's goal offside, and any move where an attacker got to the goal-line and pulled the ball back for a shot and was still in an offside position.

Think you could do this in real time with a type of citing system, if the ref suspects simulation of any kind to stop play, get a player booked, waste time etc they refer it to VAR for review, but it's carried out while the game is going on, then yellows awarded as required.

1. Qualified refs to rewatch a game and award three game bans for any player faking a head injury to stop play.
2. Same refs to also give out three game bans for diving
3. This law is already in place but is rarely enforced. Any player waving imaginary cards is immediately given a card and another law that is rarely enforced, throw ins and free kick are to be taken from the place the ball goes out of play not from wherever a player fancies it. I noticed that the goal Bournemouth scored against us was taken about eight yards further forward from where the actual offence took place
4. No more than one player is allowed within 10 yards of the technical areas when there is an injury which has stopped play
5. Independent time keepers as they do in rugby. Clock stops when the ball is out of play, teams taking an age to set up a wall, take a goal kick etc. Have two periods of 35 minutes actual play, average time at the moment of ball in play is around 55 minutes
6. Use VAR for what is was supposed to do, not see if Foden's toenail was offside
7. If a player has to go off for 30 seconds after receiving treatment so should the player who fouled him
8. Substituted players to leave the pitch by the shortest possible route as they should already be doing

Good point . TBH I'm glad I don't have the job of updating the rules . I had a quick look at the offside rule changes over the past 150 years this morning and my brain started to ache . Would have loved to see how the game was played in the early days when no attacking player could touch the ball if they were in front of it .

1863.

When a player has kicked the ball, anyone of the same side who is nearer to the opponent's goal-line is out of play, and may not touch the ball himself, nor in any way whatever prevent any other player from doing so, until he is in play
