Does anyone know why the Crusty Cob in Ancoats just shut?
They without a doubt, made the nicest meat & potato pies known to man.
I grew up eating the things. It was a going concern when my mum was growing up in Ancoats and lasted till a few years ago.
It shutting never made any sense as it was always busy. Everyone from that side of Manchester got a pie from the Crusty Cob.
It never got sold on or anything, it just shut.

Owners retired in 2018 if it’s the same shop.

Probably easier to sell off all the equipment and if it’s a special recipe sell that to the highest bidder, but tbh every town has “the best pie in the country”, than to sell as a going concern.

The Crusty Cob was always the destination for the ‘pie run’ from work. Don’t miss work one bit but I do miss the Crusty Cob pies!

French bread must be out there still crust cob don’t a Greggs sell it?

What you don’t see any of is real granary bread

Best pies around with plenty of juicy gravy in them, used to go there alot from work, always busy.
Chinese chippy wasn't too bad next door.

Tommy Chong...quite possibly the first at the chippy job in east manchester.
