TV shows and movies are already increasingly moving towards internet streaming, so why doesn't sports take it to the next level and offer international live sports packages, and you get to either pay by paypal or credit card.
Because of SKY, unfortunately. NFL has a gamepass for customers outside of the USA. When I lived in the UK it was about £200 for the regular season just to watch one team. If that team was blacked out in the local area (not on local tv because they didn't sell enough tickets to attend the actual game) then the gamepass which you paid £200+ for was not allowed to show the game. All of this is because of the rights SKY have.
Now, I live in Spain it has cost me €90 to watch every single NFL game live or on demand as soon as the game finishes. I am also allowed to watch any blacked out game live.
That is just an example of the power SKY have.
