What's the best Football Management game ever?

Buying Kevin Reeves for £1,000,000 and ending up getting beat at Mansfield because of low morale or an injury to Trevor Brooking

Soccer boss i had football director but you got sacked all the time and it did my head in. their was a football manager game on the zx spectrum which was amazing and the first one i remember to have actual player names but only 3 divisions, i cant remember the name but you had to put how many spectators you expected for each game

Championship Manager 99/00 for me!

This was the one where you could bid 50 million for someone, then before offering a contract change the bid to 0 right?
haha it was classic.

champ man 01/02 was a beast of a game.
I actually played this until 2007.
It was just a case of raiding the Scandinavian under 19's. Kallstrom, magne hoseth, selakovic etc.
Now Im a big fan of football manager.
But it gets s bit tedious, the more in depth it goes.

ultimate soccer was also an amazing game.
used to love being Ajax, and you could go through a season in 15-20 minutes iirc.
Ive tried to download it but couldn't find it, might have another look!

Champ man 00/01. Also LMA on playstation think it was 05 that might have been the best or 04.

Took Birmingham to the title with the likes of Shevchenko, think that might have been when Delvecchio was a goal machine

Whats the best Football Management game ever? For me its Ultimate Soccer Manager 98/99 Season Edition for the PC! Its very rare now and i had to pay £20 for it on Ebay last year still playing it now..... Any fans of Football Manager or LMA or anything on here??

my favourite one was also ultimate soccer manager.. if i remember correctly it's got a soundtrack to it aswell, some guitars and things playing in the background! and when you're sacked it shows your desk with your stuff in the box.. stupendous!

Championship Manager 2
97/98 edition
Oh how i loved some of those players that were great but were shit in real life
Absolutely! Kinkladze led my City team to glory on many occasions!

Another vote for CM 01/02.

I still have the receipt in the box for it.

The new update will be out in a couple of weeks if people don't know about them.

I remember having the original Championship Manager on the Amiga, where you had a book full of football scores which acted as codes to load a saved game. I lost the book and couldn't play anymore.

Treble Champions on the Spectrum was brilliant for its time, as was Tracksuit Manager, where you managed an international team and had a scrolling commentary on screen.

Think the spectrum game was called The double and it was the first i remember to have actual player names

I've still got the 98-99 version of Championship manager where City are in division 2. Simon Davies, Matthew Etherington, Gavin Holligan and a 17 year old Gareth Jellyman brought in for about £3.5 million, took City to 8-9 Champions Leagues and about 14 titles in 20 years.

The Godfather of all Management games.

A formation of 3 - 3 - 1 - 3 and the world yours, sadly it was pretty buggy.

2-4-4 was a great formation on that one, with the left and right midfielders running back.

The CM Italia was great as well, Caniggia suspended for 52 weeks.

Yes, mate! USM 98 was fucking awesome. These Footballl Manager games take it to another level though. I don't play them anymore, but if a "Football Chairman" ever came out, I'd be on it quicker than a hiccup.
