The sweeteners used in Zero and diet are different. Zero has a perceived real sweetness to it. Most sweeteners in soft drinks need to be served cold (5 degrees or less) before they are fully activated. That is why diet drinks so often taste shit compared to full fat ones. Once read that the chemical sweeteners have all sorts of bad side effects including brain functions and impact on mental health issues.
