David Lynch's version of Frank Herbert's novel Dune was screwed up enough, but apparently Alejandro Jodorowsky nearly made it first. I'm reasonably sure if that had come off, it would have been one of the most fucked-up films of all time. Here a few of his plans at the time:
- Jean Giraud and HR Gieger as designers (some of the designs are nasty enough on paper)
- Salvador Dali to play the Emperor on $100,000 a day
- Orson Welles as Baron Harkonnen
Plus several almost incomprehensible changes to the story which anyone who has read the book would just scratch their heads at.
