whats your area famous for

Anderton Boat Lift

The first electrically powered swing-bridge in the country.

Discovery of Polythene.

Salt mines.

Sinking houses.

The famous Northwich Victoria.

Let's get the sh*t stuff out of the way first. Scum player 'Charlie' Brown is from my original area.

Good stuff...

John Thaw('The Sweeny', Inspector Morse') went to my primary school, 'The Boys From the Black Stuff' filmed scenes on an infamous estate(The Ansell) at the back of me mam's.

'Broken Glass'(famous Brit breakers) hailed mostly from it.

I spent a sh*t load of time with 'A Guy Called Gerald', in my youth, in that area.

And me.

Heywood - Inbreeding and pubs. Was once in the Guinness Book of Records for having the most pubs per head in the population (around about 5 pubs per person it seemed)

You forgot
Peter Heywood, the magistrate who, with a party of men, arrested Guy Fawkes during the Gunpowder Plot of 1605.
Another member of the family, also called Peter Heywood, was aboard the HMS Bounty when its crew mutinied in 1789
Plum Mill 1905, once the largest mule-spinning mill in the world under one roof.
Mellors brook chimney, it was about 4 foot out of perpendicular and once known as "The Crookedest shaft in England"
Former Oldham and Sheffield Untited keeper Paul Gerard was born in Heywood
Those twins from Shameless/Emmerdale are from Heywood.
Lisa Stansfield was raised in Heywood
July Goodyear still lives there.
Les Denis has a caravan in Ashy Valley.
It's a shithole.

No need to tell me mate, I've drank in all of them. The list of pubs that have shut down in Heywood over the last 20 years is frightening.

It is a shame, but I can only keep one pub afloat at a time.
