When our Old Trafford allocation was zero.

went to both games, the game in 1992/93, when we lost 2-1, i managed to get 4 tickets in the utd end off one of their branches, the second game in 95/96 we had zero tickets, but got in again through the same utd branch.

going back to 89-90, the brightwell game, the crowd was 40000, with city everywhere, the united sections had 1000's of empties.

I watched it on the big screen at maine road in the main stand.

Remember quinn missing 2 one on ones.

I could have sworn it was a header at the stretford end. I've been thinking about this, I was definitely there if it was in Autumn 1995 because I went with a mate who I'd met that summer - whisper it, a utd fan from Dublin.

I remember when the City players came out for the second half and I was clapping them on he said in his thick Irish accent:

'how to win friends and influence people'.

I think that was the last game at old trafford in the united end where I didn't keep my head down. I might have to revert to type if the derby in April is a title decider. It might be the last thing I ever do, mind.

not true they gave 500 tickets made us queue up at maine road overnight to obtain one then gave us another 500 after the press picked up on it

Correct, they first allocated 500 expensive seats and then sent 500 standing in a very small pen in the scoreboard end. I remember there was a few city in utds areas who jumped up when we scored.

We did not score did we?
I thought it was 1-2, because I remember my mate pointing city fans out in the stretford end, it was half built and they had seats in the lower part of it. Maybe they jumped up when we almost scored. Just been told it was 0-2 so your right. I do my best to remove any defeat to them out of my mind a soon as I can.

I was there that day got two tickets from a bloke i used to do some work for who was in ex players assoc me and a mate went the wankers sussed us before kick off and after they scored we were gettin some shit mainly cos we were the only ones with local accents. Quinny was clean through and put the ball wrong side of post when it looked certain to be going in thats when the stewards invited us to leave.

It was October 1995 when the original cantilever stand (United Road) was being expanded. Not sure how they got away with not giving us tickets though?

Remember Niall Quinn missed a sitter.

If it was the game that Quinny missed a sitter then I was there, as usual, in the utd end.

Buzzer & his missus were sat right behind me and Timmy Mallet, of all people, was to my right.

I remember jumping up when Quinny missed (he totally missed the ball - a header IIRC) and feeling a bit of a tit afterwards.

Don't remember the allocation for that game though. If it was restricted I am sure there were plenty like me.
these bits interest me!

you were feeling like a tit...... sitting next to timmy fooking mallet... and worst of all stuck in the swamp with the smell of p*ss off the other fans

....who wouldn t!?

I didn't say I was sat next to Timmy Mallet, I said he was to my right! He couldn't have been sat to my immediate right as I was at the end of the row! He was in the next block of seats fwiw.

But I get your point ;-)

I was at the 1-2 game. About 30 blues together in the maine stand where the teams used to come out. A manure tout who used to come in the nags head in gorton got us all in the same block. I always remember Steve Mcmahons face when he won a crunching tackle right in front of us, 30 + blues all jumping up together and cheering him. There was about 34.000 capacity at the time, and they couldn`t sell it out. Tossers.

you're the second poster to post almost the exact same today

it even had me checking the OS fixtures just to make sure it is at home

I was at both the 1-2 and 0-1 (scholes). We were not allocated any tickets for the 0-1. I remember the Quinn chance just going the other side of the post at the scoreboard end. Also, Kinky ran the midfield in the 2nd half. The 1-2 game where Quinn pulled one back we did have around 500 tickets. Interestingly, cantona made a substitute debut in this match.
