Welsby is nowadays rarely involved in sports presenting, although he has recently been seen presenting Crown Green Bowls for Sky Sports.[3] In recent times, Welsby has toured the country with Ricky Tomlinson in the theatre tour, An Evening with Ricky Tomlinson, where he interviews Tomlinson in character as Jim Royle.

Interesting listening to the commentary on that. Apparently, then we were a club with loads of history. Funny how things change and now we have none.

can anyone remember a programme that was on dedicated to us when we got relegated to division 2. it was summet like a hour long special and it had a nice montage at the end with i think it was lous armstrong, i remember recording it and watching it over and over nearly crying (i was 13) seemed like a lifetime ago. well does anyone know where i could find this programme?? cheers

It was called something like 'The day after'.... The montage you refer to is actually Otis Redding... I've been loving you too long

thats the one, just listening back to this is bringing it all back!

Don't remember the programme but remember being at the game and it was total mayhem after we were both relegated with the Brittania being a builders yard and tree posts, fences and bricks being used as ammo.

This was also kinkys last game.

Three of us in the Stoke end that day and somehow never got sussed.
Blues were everywhere, about five minutes in, what I can only describe as a Mexican wave of brawling swept around the entire stadium and continued throughout the game as more and more City fans had to fight their corner.
Fucked off with a couple. of minutes left, knowing we were down, and had my forehead split open from hairline to eyebrow by a lump of concrete as blues and Stokies fought on the bridge. Five hours at the North Staffs Royal being stitched and scanned for head injuries, my face a mask of blood, and all I could think was 'how fucking low are City going to go?'

I too was in the Stoke end that day. Reckon I got sussed by the guy next to me but he must have taken pity.

I remember a funny story in one of the broadsheets a couple of days before that game about City fans going to the Britannia Stadium ticket office and asking for "tickets for the Stoke game"!
