Are the other first choice players obliged / contracted to be in the stadium to watch the game ?

I don't know about that, but I do know that the players who are picked are generally expected to pass the ball to each other and to defend like they have a modicum of experience in the field.

You know I have a theory about this.............. during the Summer(!!!??) someone put something in the water at either Carrington or the Etihad that has turned all our players colour blind so they don't recognise a blue shirt, in fact they only recognise shirts whose colour is different from any City shirt, home or away!!

You can tell I am still recovering from last night's debacle can't you? My positivity will come back soon.................... I hope. The strange thing is usually after a match, win, lose or draw, it only takes me a couple of hours to 'get over it' but the pessimistic mood is getting to me. I must stop coming on BM!! In fact I shall adopt that as my mantra for the rest of the day. Stay off BM, Stay off BM!!

No, a mate of mine grew up with Joe Hart in Shrewsbury and has mentioned in the past that he's gone round Joes to watch the game if he's not in the squad. I think it makes sense giving them the night off completely to rest up at home.

don't think so. Does anyone know if the players picked are contracted to turn up and play, or just turn up?

To be fair, they were in the correct georgraphical location that they needed to be. This is the only positive that could be stated.

My comment was not meant to imply that every game Joe doesn't play at he sits at home watching it. It was more of an example that they are not contracted to go to the stadium when not in the squad. With the quality of the corporate seats and boxes at the ground I'm not surprised he went.

It was just an observation. That he was there. Last night. That's all.
