When will the panic stop???

When we start winning enough games to keep us comfortably away from the relegation zone. 2 points away does not cut it!

Bloody bookies wtf do they know
I detect sarcasm, well my friend at the start of this season we were favourites with the bookies to break in to the top 4 this season at Arsenals expense.

We were certainties for a top 6 finish.

And the shortest odds we have ever been for winning the premiership title.

So yes what do the bookies know???

I do agree 100% with the sentiments of the original post...said as much the other day...

I can understand people's reservations about MH, and also with some of the dire performances in the first half of the season...but we must judge "progress" after a full season, not after half a season.

I think the "doom & gloom" brigade are split into two...those who genuinely think we're fucked...and those who simply need to have a moan. As the OP points out, it's been consistent throughout the last four years...every season this board has it's divisive issues, but more importantly, and probably something of more concern, it's divisive posters. Those who will post the exact same things in every single thread. This season I have seen threads about players, fixtures, other clubs, transfer targets, all degenerate into slanging matches about the manager.

There are indeed some attention seeking WUM's on this board...

Yes it was sarcasm. They may get the odd thing wrong but at least 11 teams to finish lower than us looks like we might have a chance of staying up.
Oh and i bet 3 of the teams that were shorter odds than us for the prem are 1st 2nd and 3rd??

This is the tightest premiership we have had for years, there is nothing to separate over half the league, if I were choosing 3 teams I would do it with caution, because the next few weeks the pressure starts to crank up, the smaller teams do much better under pressure, where as the bigger clubs whose fans expectations are much higher add to the problems for their own team.

It does not mean I personally think we will be relegated, because I think it unlikely based on us having plenty of activity in the transfer market this January, if we were not to make any more signings and relying on our current squad then I think we would be in trouble.

And like I said earlier not all our problems can be resolved by throwing cash at the problems, we need to see the side pulling in the same direction and playing for the manager, we need to stop hearing negative press coming from the dressing room, and we need to see MH getting it right.

A lot of people need to grow some balls and stop moaning like little girls when things could be a lot worse than this.We are in a better position than all the other teams around us with plenty of time to prove that plus we finished top of the uefa cup group,we need a lot of things but consistency has to be right at the top of the queue we can't change owners and managers like we have done.

I started following City right in the middle of the shite which was far worse than what we have now and i wouldn't have it any other way because i can now enjoy what is now only the start of this clubs revival too the top of English football and we need to get behind the players even if they are not at the top of there game at the moment (i.e Vassell ) because it doesn't help neither does it help getting on Hughes back let him build his own squad right through and judge him then.

Might be a bit dramatic but remember the words of Churchill and it's not that bad really is it things will improve.

"If you're going through hell, keep going.."
Why are we in a better position than all those around us?, that’s right we have more money to spend???, talk about putting all your eggs in one basket, too many blues seem to have done that and just written off performances results etc, and decided January is going to be the answer to all our problems, it is ridiculous there are absolutely no guarantees our wealth will give us an edge on all those around us.

The qualities that are more important are unity, collective togetherness, playing as a team; you know when the going gets tough the tough get going, we have not seen any of that on display, besides the occasional exception we have been piss poor, Nottingham forest when MH turned his back on Elano and Sturridge for me was defining moment ,MH body language suggested he did not know what to do, that was the first time I appreciated the gravity of our situation, the manager did not know what to do, the players did not know where to play.

I am trying to remain optimistic I really am, we are now a third of the way in to the transfer window, I appreciate we can not buy players clubs don’t want to sell, but even this contradicts the spin leaked to us lot about transfer lists and strategies discussed during trips to Dubai weeks ago, for starters professionally run clubs have transfer targets and transfer fees sorted out weeks before January and all that remains is for the player to sign on the dotted line come January 1st,so threadbare is our squad we were all relieved Portsmouth was abandoned, but we still have the same problem going in to the next couple of matches, matches we need to take points from.

I don't see anywhere in my post where i mentioned it was because we have more money too spend i actually believe in the players we have or going to have unlike some and too turn things round and i do really think we have a better team than those around us.

Your right you can't write off the bad performances, results etc but you can be realistic, optimistic and supportive for the team too get on with whats left and improve.I seriously doubt people think we are going to improve just because we have money and as you put it January is going to be the answer to all our problems its not but it will help.

The Elano, Hughes,Sturridge and Forrest bit do you real know what happened have they told you themselves well if not shut up about it's not our business too sort out let them sort it out between them if it's mixed messages or something isn't working(tactics) they will work on that.We are going to get out played by teams things won't work that's football move on.

Yeah but it doesn't help now the fact that we have money, the targets that were lined up the clubs will do doubt prolong negotiations too up our offer i.e Santa Cruz. And whats saying we won't get results in the next couple of matches i believe we are going to get better now we definitely have a better defense now Bridge is here more solid IMO and lets hope we strengthen more areas but lets wait and see and stop moaning like little girls and support our team and manager. All of them will be trying there best to improve this situation.

the negativity will stop when the inconsistency stops. it's been there for as long as i can remember, the only exceptions are the relegation seasons (when we were consistently awful) and the season we got promoted from div one (when after a mixed start we were consistently awesome). every single other year of the last 15, the question has been the same, 'which city will turn up this week'.

Agreed the only consistent thing about City is their inconsistency. Unfortunately you will never get consistency from players such as Elano, whilst the likes of Parker wont set the world alight they can be relied upon.

PS good posts Ealingblue

,I can only assume you think I should have expected such a poor season

The Elano, Hughes,Sturridge and Forrest bit do you real know what happened have they told you themselves well if not shut up ?

Im sorry please don’t hit me !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

Grow up son, using words to sabre rattle and incite posters with different opinions just leaves you looking like a hormonal teen.

I think it is clear that Hughes feels that there are players he can rely on Ireland, SWP, Zabaleta, Kompany, Robinho, Dunne those that he may not be sure about Richards, Hart, Sturridge and those he isnt keen on Vassell, Elano, Ball, Hamann.

He has had a look at these players which is only right, given them an opportunity and it is his choice who he lets go and who the replacements are and who he keeps because at the end of the day those decisions will affect whether he is kept on or not and I am sure he wants to get it as right as we want him to. Its in no-ones interest least of all his to fail !!!!

Yes there have been some bad performances but there have also been some spectacular ones. This club has gone from being the record lowest goal scorers in the premier league to the 2nd highest scoring team. Clearly in the past the team was geared towards defence but now when we are trying a more balanced approach our defenders have been found wanting.

Why dont people just give the guy a chance to bring a more balanced side together. I have been very impressed with most of his buys so far I am not sure why people here think he will get it so wrong.

Alot of sides have players that you hate Liverpool had Souness, Scum too many to mention all the Leeds team of the 70's, Arsenal Vierra the thing that all these sides have in common is they were successful so what if we have to bring a bit of steel to our side it will do some good

Your sad pal carry on being childish and moan your heart out, try and make people look stupid it doesn't work.I give up on you and your clan of doom and gloom preachers.

The truth of the matter is the last few months have not gone the way most of us had hoped at the beginning of the season, so I can totally understand the pessimism.

That said, I think people were expecting a bit too much, too soon. We've had years of watching poor to average City sides and, as someone else has said, I've seen enough in the team this year, albeit sporadicly, to believe we have made some progress and could be on the verge of something special if our consistency improves. We're the second top scoring team in the whole Premier League. I know that alone doesn't win titles or even keep you in the top half of the table, but it is something to feel good about.

It doesn't take a genius to know that we're not there yet and it will take time until we're challenging at the top of the table but I for one am quite willing to wait with a little patience and little hope.

Please calm down everyone. We are all Blues who love our team and at times that can naturally get us overexcited and unpleasant to people who disagree with our point of view. I believe and have fairly reliable sources for information that things are not quite what they seem. Firstly do you seriously believe that our owners are in any way naive, they don't get that powerful or wealthy without knowing a thing or two. Secondly we are playing a game with the selling clubs which is being orchestrated from within to unsettle players such as rsc, they will all come in the end if we want them, or do we? A smokescrean is in play at the moment to confuse and to distort what is about to happen. Within 48hours I think your mood will be changed for the better by what will be as exciting news as the summer takeover was. If you have ever done business with Arabs you will understand what I mean, they always come from an unexpected perspective and usually get what they want, at least this type of Arab does. They nor Hughes will let us down, keep the faith and enjoy what is about to happen.
