When your head hits the pillow, do you?

Cheers mate. I suffer tinnitus 27/7 but it's something I've learned to live with, can be a right bastard though leading to anxiety which is never good when you feel tired but can't stop thinking about things.

Fortunately, I'm sleeping pretty soundly nowadays as i have to be up for 6:15 6 days a week but as another poster mentioned sleep deprivation is not good
I’ve got the tinnitus as well but it doesn’t seem to be an issue when I go to bed.
It’s usually when I’m watching tv that it bothers me.
I downloaded an app the other day for the phone called Resound relief.
A load of sounds (cricket, rain, queefs etc.)
works well with the headphones.

I dont fall asleep easily at all. I certainly have to read, have to be totally knackered to fall asleep without reading.
Have to get totally comfy , get into my book and hopefully nod off

I sometimes count backwards from 200 if im struggling

Normally fall asleep pretty quickly, however when I had Covid I really struggled despite feeling tired, was awake till about 4.00 am every night for about 6 or 7 nights. It became a vicious circle with my mind working overtime to try to fall asleep. After experiencing it only for a short period my heart goes out to those who suffer from it on a regular or long term basis.

I used to struggle to fall asleep, but now I put on a podcast or audio book just loud enough to hear with a 20 minute timer, and I'm normally out within 5 minutes.

I've been listening to the same hour long podcast for about 3 weeks.

I can only get a good sleep every second night. The trick for me is to "try stay awake". The Moment I make a conscience decision to sleep and don't fall asleep with 15 minutes it's not going to happen. These nights I get anything from 3 -5 hours.

My girlfriend sleeps like the dead and can take naps at will. This is her super power.

Suffered with insomnia pretty much my entire life, i just don't sleep. I also have something whereby my natural body clock is off. I don't naturally get tired until the very early hours regardless of how early I got up that day or how exhausted I am, I could have ran two marathons be in bed unable to move before the sun sets and I'd still be awake until stupid o'clock in the morning. I can get a good long lie in when I do ventually sleep and wake up shattered as equally as I can have way under the recommended hours, as little as 2/3 hours sometimes and yet wake up fresh and alert.

One of the most awkward things is whenever I have a new partner, spending the first few nights together and having to explain the next morning why she's fallen asleep like a normal person whilst I've just lay there for many hours wide awake and not slept at all like some mentalist can be fun.

in my younger days I would regularly go multiple days in a row without even bothering to go to bed and that's without being out on the lash or anything. Nowhere near as bad now thankfully but still a problem. I've found a few things to help me over the years, podcasts can help but you can't be too invested in them otherwise they have the opposite effect as soon as you actually want to listen to them. I've discovered watching videos of the most mundane tasks, usually being repeated over and over has a weird relaxing effect on me and can set me into sleep mode. I believe its a form of asmr, it's odd but it works.

Usually spend a load of time overthinking then eventually drop off.

Had a dream last night I was PR37s union rep defending him in work hearing. Woke up incredibly confused.

Used to go out like a light, now I take ages to go asleep and even when I do it’s interrupted,I put it down to partly age and having had Covid, only time I do fall asleep quickly is if I’ve had a skin full of drink ..

Wife #1 bought me one of these on the weekend:
It better put me to sleep instantly or it's going back.

Years of shift work hasn't helped me, did 2 or more night shifts per week for years, so no real "body clock" as a result. We've stopped doing night shifts now but still work an evening shift from 2/3pm until 11:30/12:30 depending on time of year.

Trouble is after an evening shift I'm very alert, and have no interest in going to bed, so I end up staying up until about 3am, on my laptop, or watching (shite) TV, with a glass (or 3) of wine, like tonight.

When we work a day shift, I have to be in the office for 7am, with a 1 hour commute, and I hate that, as I'm always restless all night in case the alarm(s) don't go off, and I never go to bed before 11:45 even then.

I'm partially retired now so down to working about 2 shifts per week, but I can't wait until I'm fully retired when I aim to get a better rythm of sleep somehow, though I've always been a bit of a night owl anyway, I think I'd be happy with sleep at 1am get up at 10am regularly.

I envy people who fall asleep easy. Never have. I just lie there thinking about absolutely everything. Drives me mad. I've got tinnitus too these days, which doesn't help.

How does your missus sleep? Mine goes to sleep anywhere, anytime, whereas it takes me ages and if my sleep is interrupted then that's the night gone for me.

I get restless legs and arms , some fucker is having a fucking laugh that it kicks in the min i get into bed , even my heavy duty meds cant overide it , not as often these days thankfully
