After looking like we were becoming one of the top forums in Europe, it all seems to have gone to shit. So who's to blame and how do we sort it out?
The major problems include:
1) There is a lack of leadership. Things get out of hand and you expect to see the boss in there sorting things out yet Ric seems content to stay back and play it far too defensively. He needs to go for it more. People apologising and making up before the mods have intervened will only get you so far. Ric and the lads did fine when we were a mid-table team but have they got what it takes to get us to the next level. I think it's fair to say that there are still some doubts around.
2) The pace at which threads develop. In general, everything is far too slow. It used to be that a good thread would get to 20 pages very quickly and postings would still be relevant. Now, it takes an age just to get to 10 pages and the postings have often descended into stupid puns by page 3. We need to get back to a system that can maintain threads and deliver some end product.
3) Zonal modding isn't working. People like Banned Tosspot have worked out when the soft touches like Matty & Gstar are on duty and concentrate their attacks on these mods. We should revert to man-modding, where the real hard-men (like Cleavers & de niro) are specifically given a number of the worst offenders to shadow and keep out of the game.
4) Upstairs is just a disaster area at the moment. Any decent posters are far too isolated and get no service. We're keeping too many people downstairs and need to get people like tueartsboots forward out of Off Topic more often to support the matchday forum.
5) Inconsistency is driving people crazy. There's a suspicion that some are immune from punishment, with a string of threats and other C-o-C offences barely rating even a word yet if some others utter even so much as a "FFS", they get banned. Of course, it doesn't help that no one really understands the Code of Conduct and therefore it's open to all sorts of misunderstanding and interpretation. I mean – if you're viewing a thread then you surely have to be active, right?
6) The Technical team just aren't up to it. Damocles is Championship standard at best. Even RAWK turned him down when they were looking for a new Admin, after making some discreet enquiries. We might be able to loan him out to Nottingham Forest for the rest of the season but I can't see how he has a long-term future at City. We should be looking for better; I hear the Real Madrid forum admin team have fallen out with Mourinho and may be open to an offer.
So would people say this is a fair summary of the problems Bluemoon faces and what would others do?
