Where do you see us as a club (for our fans and others)

Right now in terms of history I see us as a top 8 side between 4th and 8th alongside Everton, Villa,Spurs and arguably Chelsea. Even if we won the title we'd still be in this group category. Teams have to earn the right to be in the same breath as Liverpool, Rags and Arsenal. In ten years time if we still have these owners and we've been successful along the way I would expect to be close to top 3 status but as for now it can't be anymore than top 8.

Given the variables what exist visa vis Manchester City's wealth and what went before it namely when we weren't quite so wealthy and whatnot, taking into account our previous dealerships and performances and stuff then I think we're not quite as good as we will be but an awful lot better than we were, when we were not this good.

So on the whole, I'm quite pleased.

Same level as Villa, Everton, Spurs et al - over the course of history we always have been, barring the odd purple period for those clubs and of course our own such period of the late 60s to mid 70s.

But, and this is the big BUT - we are now challenging to be on the same level as the level one above our own - the 'top four' as it's been called in recent years - and we have the resources for our attempt at this to be very arguably more viable than Spurs, Everton's and Villa's - now it's our chance to capitalise on that and turn that potential to go up a level into a reality.

the next few seasons are going to be very exciting.

I see ourselfs still as a sleeping giant. I think we are now becoming known in europe as a big spending power but not for our footballing genius, but i expect that to change within three years given continued backing

To quote somebody else.....
We are no longer 'a sleeping giant'. The giant has woken up and is hungry. Great quote by the way.

Forgetting league placings etc etc... to quote an executive at ETIHAD (I Think)... City are a globally relavent club.

Whereas, throughtout my period of support (apart from a brief spell), outside of manchester, we have hardly been relavent.

At least the rags can no longer sing that song about nobody knowing our name...

Our value has risen by over 60% in 12 months, we have the financial muscle to take anybody on... I believe it is only a matter of time.....

I have always seen us as just a fairly big club (in the same bracket as Spurs, Newcastle, Sunderland and Chelsea), with a fairly good support (we've had our seasons with an average of 16,000 and cup games with attendances between 8,000-12,000! the 28,000 in Div 2 thing is an overly used comment from City fans! and we're far too easy to jump on any other set of fans for having a shit attendance!)

Okay we've got money, a lot of money, more money than anyone else in world sport; but that doesnt automatically make us a big club! If i win £50million on the Euro Lotto on Firday does that make me posh?- No, it doesnt at all! But when i have kids they would grow up in a posh area and go to a posh school and they'd have posh friends etc. and they'd be posh! But at City now we need to build a pedegree up before we can be considered a big club (when i say big club i refer to Real Madrid, Barcelona, AC Milan, Bayern Munich, United and Liverpool - closely followed by Juventus, Arsenal, Valencia, Internazionale, Ajax and probably a few more i cant think of right now!)

It might take 10-20, maybe 50 years before we're considered in the same light as the very very big clubs as that's how long it takes to build up that pedegree!

City fans have, in the past, usually been a well grounded set of fans! But ive read and heard some ridiculous things coming from some blues already (and we've only had this money for 1 year!) And there is already some arrogance trickling into some City fans ways, thoughts and comments! and that is a real shame when you think of where we've come from since the early 80's as a yo-yo club for 20 years and the depths of the third tier of football in the late 90's! And when you look at what we hate United fans for!!!

But yeah, we're a fairly big club with a good bit of money behind us which potentially could propell us onto greatness in the next 25 years!

I think 50 years is over-egging the pudding a fair bit. Many peoples football memories only stretch back to 1993 it seems these days and so our cross-town rivals are in such people's (who make up a huge amount of the media for one thing) minds only one of the 'biggest' clubs in the world based on the success since then, and that alone. 16 years.

anyway a way to completely fast-track your way to greatness is to do something unprecedented - i.e in the extremely hypothetical situation that City (or any club that isn't already considered as one of the very top table really) won the Champions League 4 or 5 times on the bounce they'd then have to be considered one of the 'biggest' clubs in Europe from then on - because they'd have done something so totally unprecedented in modern football that it would seem silly to call them anything but.

it doesn't take as long as you think to build 'pedigree' because pedigree is the not-so-distant cousin of glamour - be an exciting and glamourous side and convert that into results and pedigree soon follows.

What a load of crap Manchester City without the money have hardly ever been in the same league as the likes of Aston Villa, Everton, and Tottenham in terms of club stature, those 3 clubs have won 52 trophies between them, Manchester City have won just 9 trophies, so City are miles behind those 3 clubs, also Manchester city are well behind both Tottenham and Everton in all time average attendances, Oh and Manchester City have been a Yo Yo club for years, and have gone 33 years without winning a trophy ffs, but your on the same level of course you are, how are those blue tinted glasses by the way mate. LOL

Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are the only Two clubs to have won trophies in everyone of the last SIX decades, where were Manchester City then !!!!

We're going to have to get a bigger ground to accomodate the influx of Martian glory-hunters expected to arrive at Victoria Teleport Station every week.
