Where Eagles Dare

Is that the one where one side is on top throughout, then throw it away at the end ;-)

OK, just watching this classic for the gazillionth time, and have just reached the part that frustrates the hell out of me, where Clint is trying to sneak up on the Schloss Adler radio operator to silence him by knifing him in the neck, but then the music stops and the radio operator hears him and hits the castle alarm button. Why the fuck doesn't he just shoot him with the silenced pistol from the door, which fatty Burton ends up having to do anyway?

Anyone?

I'm now hearing the legend that is Broadsword Calling Danny Boy, so I have to go and watch Clint tearing it up with his Schmeisser and the castle blowing up.

Its a plot device - sorry to be blunt but thats how it works

Its one of my favourite films. I saw this at the pictures in 1969 or whenever it came out, and it made such an impact on me as a young lad, that I can even remember where the interval was.

It's when "Clint" closes the door with the wired bomb to a pillar of the main room.

I love all the Alister MacClean novels and the films that have been made from them.

Bear Island, The Guns Of Naverone, Return to Naverone, When Eight Bells Toll, The Satan Bug and Puppet on a Chain to name a few. Oh and Fear is the Key.
