Where have all the police gone?

They’re too busy arguing with them Youtube morons who like to stand outside Police stations filming.
They shouldn’t be anywhere near a lot of the events they’re at,
Certainly not in the numbers they think is necessary.
Like a lot of things atm it’s broken!

I've watched a few of those YouTube videos and one thing that has struck me ( which might answer this question) is just how many police are actually in the station every time. As soon as the bloke filming is accosted there's usually another 4-10 that come out to assist as well. Suddenly loads of police appear and I think, why are they all in the station and why are they all so aggressive to one bloke wandering around with a camera? It's been going on for ages now, so long a directive has been circulated explaining what's going on and not to engage them, but still they do. If nobody confronted them or wrongly used the terrorist act or other such legislation to wrongfully arrest them they would soon disappear. Not to mention the huge fines the more savvy amongst them have claimed for suing the police.

Do you actually think this would really happen?

Considering freemen of the land have got up in court to argue their twaddle and forced their way into hospital wards?

Unfortunately these people aren't playing with a full deck so there will always be some fools who will look to provoke attention.

I'm not talking about the ones going into hospitals on a different agenda. These are YouTubers who are supposedly auditing buildings and police stations and are often met with an over the top aggressive reaction to what they are actually doing. Full deck or not they are making thousands off the hits and adverts and the police confronting them puts more money into their pockets.

That Auditing Britain bloke has had thousands in compo he claims ...that's our money by the way.

Why the police come out of the stations in droves for a bloke with a camera I have no idea. They look like aggressive cunts with fuck all better to do. Just ignore the not rights filming ffs

He does and gives it away to charity. He makes enough from his channel. It's the fault of the police the money is being lost for their behaviour and in unlawfully detaining him all because their ego has been hurt. Utterly ridiculous.

I do think the Police have a right to go and question anybody who is outside filming their station and cars that are entering and leaving.
Sure, they should do it politely and not give themselves reason to be plastered all over the Internet but this fetish of going around filmiing under the guise of an 'audit' channel is fucking weird.
As for the numbers, you'd have to have a screw loose to want to become a policeman in today's world.

It's the way they ask and then abuse their powers when doing so. They quote laws that they're not entitled to use. The AB bloke pretended to be French and the policewoman went right over the top saying if the police asked him anything he had to tell them it was the law.

It's a way of them making money. If there was no confrontation nobody would watch. Weird or not it does highlight that some police don't know the law or worse misuse it to bully people into compliance.

Yeah, that was my point. There's a right way and wrong way to confront these auditors. The wrong way tends to get your face plastered all over SM.

The thing is if he's stood on a public footpath filming there isn't a thing they can do legally. Filming vehicles is no threat, what can you do with a registration unless you have friends in the DVLA or the police who can track you through it? I believe in France Macron made it a criminal offence to film the police. That's quite a dangerous road to go down.

I'd like to know the stats of attacks on police from filming their cars. Has there ever even been one?

Everyone is filmed on a daily basis. Google earth is a nosey fucker too.

I agree, but on the flip side the modern world has become a fairly dangerous place with an increase in domestic attacks so its right to be a little suspicious when seeing somebody filming outside certain public buildings.
Like you allude to though, there's much better ways of dealing with it than what some officers have been guilty of.

Do you remember when Blair passed an Act to prevent terrorists from filming vulnerable spots? Near me, the Flying Scotsman was making a run. Local plod told train spotters they would be arrested if they filmed it. Of course, there was zero crime in the area at the time so plod had nothing better to do.

My next door neighbors had been filming me , washing car , putting fences up, gardening etc any way called him a weirdo and a few other choice words, guess who went to court ,yes me , before this the police have been to my house at least 8 times..

Drink coffee, eat cake, post racist and sexist “jokes” to each other?
Im exaggerating of course for effect, but the culture in many forces is appalling. Instead of doing something about it, senior officers turn a blind eye or cover it up.

Hang on a minute though: I keep reading about the police being 'woke' driving cars with rainbows on and kneeling down at BLM marches (during the pandemic) & doing tiktok dances (although that might have been nurses) etc. but you are telling me that they "....eat cake, post racist and sexist “jokes” to each other".

Can't both be right, surely.

For the most part I am sure those "auditors" do it to provoke a reaction HOWEVER it does anger me when the Police start creating laws and abusing powers as either a deliberate act or worse still possible total ignorance of where their powers end - thats scary as it could occur in other dealings with the Police.

As for filming cars going in or out of a station if its a cop car then whats their beef its not their property and if its a private car then all the time its parked at the station it will be on CCTV the minute it leaves it will be on CCTV, dash cams of passing motorists and the Ring doorbell of the house opposite the exit if there is one. Its called being out in public.

The one thats always got my goat when they complain about stretched resources ( which they are I accept ) is why two or more Bobbies rock up with a bailiff wanting to serve papers ( a civil not criminal matter ) and say they are there "in case there is a breech of the peace" - wtf - can I follow a copper around and observe his every move "in case he abducts rapes and murders a woman or illegally strip searches a child et ?" - a BoP occurs and THEN Police are summoned - they are party to a civil matter that is not of their doing.

It was deliberate hyperbole, but I think you can act woke and racist at the same time. Consider those police who turned a blind eye to Asian gangs abusing teens. A racist assumption (it’s what they do) and a woke view (we better not upset this minority and cause racial tension).

Exactly. I don't think there's been one. There also hasn't to my knowledge been a terrorist attack aside of Ireland on a police station in this country. There was the custody sergeant killed by a prisoner who had a weapon concealed on him that the arresting officers failed to find. It's a nonsense excuse to use. Anyone really wanting to glean info or do harm would do it in a totally different manner.

That's all fair enough but regardless of what's gone on in the past I'm not sure I'd be content to just allow anybody and everybody to film certain buildings with impunity.
The important detail for me is how they approach and question those doing the filming. There have, as you rightly point out been too many instances of the Police making a pigs ear of it.
