i'm working in derby at the moment, and one of the guys i work with has some posh corporate seats at pride park. he and a few others went to the game last night.

one of them came over to talk to me about it this morning, and said that although derby won 2-0, the quality of the city players was clear to see. derby won it playing powerful, 'english' football, with a dominant centre forward.

it's not about winning every game at that level, as a few have already said.

well, let's hope our attitude prevails.

Youth Team dumped out of the FA Youth Cup
We seem to be going backwards
Only a couple of seasons ago teams good not get near to our youth team so what's gone wrong?
Who is coming through?

The youth team with Daniel NowI'mAtABigClub Sturridge was exceptional. There are very few clubs who can dominate the youth scene the way the PL has been dominated by SewageFC of Stretford. In fact, some of the better teams in the PL over the SKY seasons have had quite poor teams. Our current youth team is pretty good but we lose a one off match. Eez football!

Only because we ended up in a weaker 2nd phase group after finishing next to bottom of the first phase group.

I'll tell you what's going wrong, my fucking eyesight reading tripe like this thread and my fucking fingers having to type a comment on it. Youth isn't about trophies, youth is about development, learning and fun !.

7-10 year olds - making football fun, enjoyable along with a technical element.

11-14 year olds - development of techniques and tactical aspects of the game.

15 - 18 year olds - continued technique and tactical development,lifestyle management and education.

19 - 21 year olds - players should be aiming for first team squad integration
or going out on loan, to gain the experience of first team football.

Now what I've wrote may be wrong, but to me this is what youth football is all about, and not being worried about getting knocked out of cups or not winning trophies.
