Where is the single most beautiful place you have been?

They are. And freezing cold snowy weather is better than red hot sweaty arse crack weather n’all.

I’d rather live in Tromsø than Barbados.

Too right. Watching the sking on Eurosport at the moment would give anything to live in the baltics or central europe. Or Colorado or Canada. Mountains, trees and snow. Ideal.

Driving through the Catskills New York was impressive , roadkill aside

We stayed here. Private enough as the only way to the beach was through our hotel or by boat. https://www.viceroyhotelsandresorts.com/sugar-beach
That looks great. I bet it wasn't cheap.

We stayed at the other end of the island.

Very hard to choose from. Toss up between these in no particular order; Lake Bled, Cavtat/Dubrovnik Riviera islands, Zlatni Rat beach, parts of the Yucatan Peninsula, Moraine Lake, Lake Louise.

Number one just pips all of the above, Peyto Lake. This is my photo taken from a viewing platform on a bog standard Sony camera phone. Photo does not do it justice, you can see the mountain range for miles and miles in the distance.

And smelly, no doubt?

I've also stayed there and the smell of sulphur from the springs is something else.

Would recommend Antigua or Grenadines in that part of world if not been mate?

I have not yet been to those places but Antigua is the one next to do for our Caribbean visit. Another for the bucket list! Life is too short to not see and enjoy these places.

With regards to the smell it was fine where we stayed which was back then formally known as the Jalousi Plantation, but when we left the resort we did visit the Diamond Botanical Gardens and the Waterfall and that smell was strong that day. Brilliant place mate. Hope you enjoyed it

Its interesting that there are many different opinions of what beautiful place conjures.
A mountain and lake landscape
An encounter with nature
A city scape
A resort
A road trip

Its different for everyone. For me, my favourites have been encounters with the natural world.

- snorkling on the Great Barrier Reef
- Dolphins off Moreton Island
- Bear watching on Vancouver Island and then seeing a lone wolf
- Driving up to Lake Louise from Banff and coming across a Grizzly eating dandelions in a meadow
- Watching Trout on the Test on a beautiful late spring day
- a wild sea otter on mull
- puffins not more than three feet away as I took photos on Staffa
- a kingfisher on the Swale

Not the most picturesque by any means but waking up on our first Caribbean Cruise in St.Thomas was special.. it reminded me of Pirates of the Caribbean and it was also fantastic for duty free gear.. came home with a new camera lens I didn’t know I needed
