Who’s gone in the summer?

I wasn't just talking about this season though, I don't think he played that well last season either despite as I said, a very good output. And I only mentioned Sterling because the post I replied to only mentioned KDB and Sterling. I also said the whole attack could do with a refresh.

For what it's worth, I don't think Jesus is clinical enough to be Sergio's replacement and I don't think Mahrez (despite being a technically brilliant footballer) fits our style of play either.
Wasting your time buddy, the blinkers are firmly in place.

In: Calhanoglu, Kalvin Phillips, a left back for the future (with Cancelo, Ake and Mendy being able to play there, I wouldn't mind a younger alternative to bring through but not sure of who) a forward (It seems to be between Haaland or Messi, though I'd prefer Mbappe myself but can't see it happening)>

Out: Fernandinho, Zinchenko, Mahrez, Angelino

I think that give us decent balance. Calhanoglu is on a free and is essentially Gundogan's future replacement. Phillips I just think is a really smart/class player and whilst I'd love him to come, he does seem to be wedded to Leeds.

Whatever fee we get for Zinchenko (maybe 20m which I think was what wolves were willing to pay a few seasons back), Angelino (I think the obligation to pay is ~15m) and Mahrez (maybe 30m if we're lucky) should cover the fee for Phillips and a cheapish left back, then that leaves our 'war chest' for either Haaland and Messi. I think that also complies with the home grown quotas.

Have we all jumped off the Gundogan bandwagon onto the new shiny Sterling one, Woe betide anyone that loses a bit of form Not like most players in the league are below their very best levels with no crowds.
There won’t be a cull, doubt if more than 1 or 2 leave apart from those out of contract and 3 at the most in. A striker a centre mid and a left back.
Why ? Because the club see a bigger picture and when we are top of the league next month will know not that much is broken.

I not 100% sure on FFP rules, but I wonder if not spending in the prev window (due to transfer ban) helps.

Plus, they did sell Hazard for alot of money.

Will the Hazard fee become the new mythical Coutinho cash cow, that last one is now up to about 300m .

I doubt there will be many major outgoings if any at all apart from Fernandinho (maybe Aguero?). No doubt we will look to shift Mendy, but finding a buyer is a different matter. Gundogan, Sterling, Rodri etc aren’t going anywhere.

Haaland, Zakaria & Tagliafico in would be spot on.

The idea that people have about football clubs having mass clear outs of 10 players is hardly ever true. We will only buy at most 3 headline players and possible some other young ones that end up on loan and probably end up never playing for city.

Sterling aint going anywhere and neither is mahrez. The latter is one of Pep’s most played guys despite the fans displeasure.

It seems fairly likely that Ferna will be going and at this point Aguero as well. I think its time he went anyway, even when fit he isn't first choice in big away games as Pep prefers Jesus or the new guy. His wages are too high to be injured/on the benchn

Mendy they might try and flog as I suspect they've lost patience but id be surprised if anyone gave us even £20m for him. However with Zinchenko rumours I cant see us ditching 2 left backs.

new left back, new striker and new central midfielder, but probably more a Gundogan/Silva type than a ferna/rodri

With potentially aguero, ferna, zinchenko going id be surprised if they decided to sell anyone else in the main squad

Can't see any surprising departures. Agüero and Fernandinho most likely, and then one of Zinchenko or Mendy. Likely the former as the latter will be hard to shift. Everyone else looks like they'll stay, although I have no idea about Carson.

How on earth do you replace Agüero? The truth is that there's nobody who you can confidently say will be able to get anywhere close to his goal tally for us. Haaland looks like the best bet if we can sign him. Incredible finisher, tall, fast, strong, good instinct. He's probably got as good a chance of anyone out there of being able to score 20+ goals a season for us for the next 10 years.
