Who’s gone in the summer?

Posted this in his player performance thread, but it's more appropriate here

2 years ago before he got injured he was widely regarded as the second best defender in the league, Ben whites just gone for £50 million, varane £40million with a year left on his contract, Sevilla reportedly want over £70 million for Kounde. £60million is at least £20 million short and even that's letting him go cheap.

Certain clubs might not have cash but it hasn't actually had any major impact on the transfer market in terms of valuations, I don't see why we should be the only club to let that happen.

We bought him for about that price, his stock has done nothing but rise since and the market is significantly inflated since then. There's no reason not to be making a healthy profit on him if he is to leave

stones and diaz looked good together from the first game they played together, We dont really have the time to give laporte and diaz and extended run in the centre if stones keep performing.

As well as selling Tosin for around 2m and buying 4th choice CB Ake for 40m.

And refusing to sell Eric Garcia last summer for more than 2m :)
 
How very generous of us. I'm not buying it though. Pep wouldn't let our 5th choice CB go even when it meant getting nothing for him because he wanted to have cover in that position. To then think he woud let our 2nd choice for one of two positions go, now we are down to 4, and one had a season out with injuries. Not seeing it. Imo we need Laporte more than the squad place or the money towards a striker. Over the length of the season, we would struggle more without him than without a new striker.
 
Sell him for +50m ( Not sure there is any club willing to pay that )

Rely on Dias, Stones, Ake

And convert Rodri to CB, since he is not good enough DM for Pep.

clubs must love us when buying from us.

and if we are funding striker at the expense of central defence means the club is far too obsessed with Kane.

Pretty odd all of a sudden we are spending quarter of a billion on two players when previously we were extremely reluctant to spend more than £65m on player. Wonder what caused this change of strategy?

Previously City would have walked long time ago.
