the deal was done and dusted before hughes was manager.

Why the delay in finalizing it then?

It obviously wasn't a done deal, although I'm sure it was very advanced.

in my honest opinion i actually think city and hughes were looking for a way out of the deal thus why there was a delay

It was the clown who almost ruined the club and wanted to use it as a political tool.

Hughes might have claimed he was behind it and/or was delighted to spend £18m on a player who had done nothing outside of Russia but that was total bollocks and the usual football manager bullshit imo.

what was hughes going to do as soon as he took the job, turn round to frank and say no, go and fuck yourself the lad is useless, i don't think so the man that had just hired him had a large hard on for brazilians (players that is :o) and if he was still in charge i think we would have many more hughes would not want.

He was put in a difficult position, no doubt.

Thaksin was/is a complete cock.

Anyway, the reason that you state Hughes was in an impossible position is why it is so hard to trust anyone in football. They, and this isn't particularly more true of Hughes than anyone else, bullshit as a matter of course. Whether it is to please their owner, make excuses for themselves, to pretend that everything is brilliant, because they feel pressured to by their bosses or because they think it is the most professional/media savvy approach. 90% of people in football bullshit first and the truth comes a long way down their list of priorities.

agreed with this completely

Your all going to hate me but I kinda liked Jo when he was at us I think really he was unfairly criticized 21 never played in a tough league only finished Russian league and been with Brazil in Olympics then expected to come to us and bag a goal a game but obviously he won't get in team now with Adebayor and Tevez starting and Bellamy on bench with Roque on his way back. Still I hope where ever he goes he has a good career there.
