Why's he one of your heroes?

I'm not having a go, because he's probably one of mine too, but I was just wondering about your reasoning.

I started to really admire his work after I read 'God is not Great' and started watching videos of debates he was in. He expresses himself in such a powerful and persuasive way, I can only dream of arguing as forcefully and eloquently as he does. As you can probably tell from the other people I put down I've got a fairly left-wing view so I can relate to his arguments (other than his pro-Iraq war stance) and as someone to look to from an atheist perspective he's a more appealing option than Richard Dawkins!

Hero might be a bit strong but he's one of the public figures I respect most.

Aye, agree with all of that. Did you see him in the Intelligence Squared debate versus Mr. Blair?

I think I did listen through all of it but I was doing other stuff while it was on so don't really remember much of it because I wasn't focusing...think I might have to give it a proper watch.

Don't really have an all-time hero (tho the person at the top of the list is probably at the top for a reason),but there are plenty of well known people who I have admired and/or found influential.

Carl Sagan
Christopher Hitchens
Stephen Hawking
Thomas Jefferson
James Madison
Thomas Paine
Milton Friedman
Noam Chomsky
Noel Gallagher
John Lennon
Michael Jackson
Gazza
Maradona
Kinkladze
Han Solo
Indiana Jones
Peter Venkman
