My dad. . . .

He was born with a birth defect and was told his whole life he would be dead before 30. He played all kinds of sports until a few years ago. He is 68 :)

He has taught me sense of self and how to live life big with passion and never be afraid to make a mistake.

Jonathan Edwards Former British Triple jumper is growing on me as the years go by.
He appears to have uncompromising beliefs,is an Olympic Champion who gets ultimate respect from today's athletes,He also interviews with empathy,Still looks in great shape, and trendy to.Modern day hero.

I am in a state of bewilderment about the number of nominations for Christopher Hitchens.

The only person who I can think of as being more pompous, inconsistent in his views, sententious and unspeakably dull is his equally self-righteous brother, Peter.

Fuck me their parents must have been a pair of cunts.

May i recommend that you read "Hitch 22",your view may change a little.

As for him being inconsistent in his views,do you still hold the same opinions that you held in your teens and early twenties?

No. Absolutely not.

I was speaking in terms of his contemporary views. He's convinced himself that Iraq was a good idea just to be controversial for the sake of it imo. It's the only sensible explanation for his stance on it.

I thought I read an interview with him recently where he talked about losing his faith in God following his retirement.
