Zin 'messiah' Zimmer said:Was reminiscing wed evening with my compadre and the conversation regressed to James 'first time I heard the word pleb' Stannage. Now don't be shy..... who was a fan of the bald hippy? He may of been a Boro fan, and have his tongue up the dark sides proverbial but I challenge any1 to name a better entertainment radio show. Being part of the 'bluemoon 5-1 crew' which would ring during the 'stannage hour' 10-11, emotion came flooding over me...... i was one of the little scrotes who would ring, talk bolloxs, try and throw in an expletive or two and then the inevitable flatline............. man i loved that show (:
Funny story, a well known wind up merchant who frequented the show Paul 'leeds' Nolan was, and still is a pal of my Bro, Stannage was doing a live show from the city club during our FA cup game with geordies at st james park, we won 2-0 walsh and Rossler i think, his co presenter was non other than Paddy Crerand, now paul absolutely destroyed the man, to which Crerand got up during adverts, placed his head set on those ikkle round tables they had and flew at him, the whole place went up, all a while stannage is sat there, on air, comb over of bobby proportions gone astray, trying in vain not to have a Ron Burgundy melt down... was classic seeing crerand ushered back to his seat trying to keep a modicum of composure... dirty rag.
you stay classy san diego
I remember that show Mr Z and I did make a couple of calls myself when in early after a couple of pints in the local....Youth and beer I'm afraid don't mix.
Me and me Pops went to see that televised match against Newcastle and can't remember the wrangle, but remember beer being thrown and glasses after we scored that second goal....We were soaked, great days!!
