Does anyone else miss football when it was just 22 guys and 3 usually shit officials and the pitch you won some you lost some argued a bit afterwards in the pub and life moved on.

Now you have to be an accountant, a lawyer, a media analyst, a body language expert, a video surveliance expert with the ability to differentiate between 1mm lines, a social media guru, a language savant and about a million other things, its bloody exhausting being a football fan these days.

Still looks pretty good and simple from my prospective...

You dont have to be any of those. Just watch the match the same way you used to and ignore all that stuff.

Football is now big business in terms of profile. The balance sheets show it is still really quite small in financial terms. Is all the angst worth it?

You can enjoy it in any way you choose

You can just treat it as a game of footy, a bit of entertainment, serious, life or death. You can cut out most of the external stuff outside of the 90 minutes if you really want, or get involved as much as you want.

I tune into games right on kick off, avoid all the shite punditry before, at half time and after. Outside of this forum, I've no interest in chatting or arguing with strangers on social media about footy, it's a waste of time and energy.

I literally watch the game and follow city news, that's about it. Don't mind getting involved in England chat during a big tournament, maybe join in laughing at the rags.

like most things, you can tailor how you want to enjoy it if you really want.
