Who should be the next leader of the Tory party?

Very random.

Can we now lock this thread, the thought that either of these 2 could be PM still sends shivers down my spine. The fact that Truss got it makes me think that I may ignore politics for a while, because she sure will.
It should be locked for a week until the first no confidence is being prepared over her batshit policies.

I predict an uncontested Sunak with Hunt staying as Chancellor. Braverman, Coffey and Cleverly will be gone to be replaced by Mordaunt and fuck knows who else.
I’m not putting money on it though.

I have never voted Tory in my life, but that is probably the best of a shit choice. B,C and C are all imbeciles, at least Penny can string a few sentences together, and as an ex NHS worker my hatred of Hunt knows no bounds, but again he is not stupid. Hopefully they can keep the Country afloat until we have a proper Government elected.

Call me old-fashioned do you think that the public should get a chance to vote for the next Prime Minister? Or is this North Korea?

The current (legal) system says that we elect a government by party and not an individual, and that each party is free to choose its leader and therefore PM. I don't really agree with it but that's the way it is.

It's not democracy though. The two-party first past the post system (plus all the unelected toffs in the Lords) has destroyed the country. The system has delivered prosperity to 10 million people in the South East and shafted the rest of us (about 50 million of us).
