Who should be the next leader of the Tory party?

Get Rory Stewart back from the USA.

Stewart sums up the problem rather well. We've been in a spiral of ever shitter conservative leadership groups since 2015, so by now anyone worth replacing them is either long gone or hasn't come to prominence because anyone who's not a get-brexit-done-no-matter-how-badly Boris loyalist has been overlooked for any role for years.

Anyone left in a position of note who has the name-recognition to become PM are by definition not fit for the role.

The only hope or a semi-serious resolution would be to bring back an old experienced head to sweep away the fucking nutters like Patel, Mogg and Dorries - but then you look around and who is left? David Davies is about the least mental one they have with 20+ years experience and he's a massive imcompetent twat.

Genuinely, they need to get voted out, and have a big restructure. There seems to be a few decent people in the younger crop who arrived in 2019.

Stewart obviously isn't going to happen so it's Tugendhat or Wallace for me.

Agreed, but they could yet just flounder on until 2025.

Choosing a new party leader is like choosing between the different portaloos at Glastonbury before needing your daily constitutional.

You hope to select a clean one but failing that you hope it is the least dirty and sordid one possible.
