Stockport video game arcade next to the bus station. Gold! The great egg race. Torville and Dean. Ooh I could arm wrestle an action man. Second generation saving system. Graham Baker. Pack it in Tucker. Marvellous. Mmmm. Isn’t it?
Roddy's Pool Hall? Used to spend hours in there.

Nope.
Falklands, aids,Thatcher, miners strike,Wembley 81,Luton 83,dippers getting all clubs banned,Ethiopia, shite clothes and shite music, new romantics and other shite.
Loads more but cannot be arsed typing.
The mullet. That alone should see anyone wanting a return to the 80's, being picked up by specially appointed agents, who batter you senseless, bundle you into the back of a van and take you to an underground prison whose conditions would have sent Papillon over the edge after a couple of says. All the other stuff you rightly mentioned, pails when the mullet is remembered.

“after a couple of says.”

is this a reference to playing a 1986 Lionel Ritchie song on a loop?

The thing is mullets were totally acceptable in the eighties and only became unfashionable in the nineties. For Scotland, change "eighties" to "nineties" and then stop reading.

They were never acceptable to anybody apart from cunts who needed shooting. No exceptions, no matter the decade, or geographical location. Straight to the nearest wall, quick smoke, blindfolded, then take aim, fire. Every single time.
