I'd say Kolarov's a better defender than him.

I wouldn't agree, I think Kolarov is a very poor defender with woeful positioning who has only been kept so long because of his (patchy) attacking ability and doesn't justify the wages he gets. I also think Mancini has lost a lot of faith in him as he used to rotate the left-backs a lot more. But even so, it's good to have a backup to Clichy (who is one of the best defensive left-backs) with some attacking ability just not one who probably earns MORE than Clichy (when Kolarov was linked with Inter last summer, an Inter rep said he was earning £105,000/week at City which is ridiculous and made any deal impossible)! It sounds like United are slight favourites to get him but the report said we've been in contact with his agent and so have Real. An ideal Kolarov replacement as part of our wage reduction attempts IMO. Digne has far more upside but just signed a new contract with Lille so might not be available.

they do that just to high his buy-out clause and take more money when they will sell him...if we will offer 10-15m in the summer for him will be very hard to impossible for Lille to say no..

Been very impressed with what I've seen from the lad. He reminds me of Jordi Alba, only not quite as fast and not quite the same engine. Then again; no one does.
thing is though, Shaw is a Chelsea fan and they will surely be interested in a British left back prospect, seeing as Cole won't have many more years in him.

Nagotomo would be a nice signing, fits the LB/LWB role. Similar to Clichy in that he is not a fantastic attacker or a Maldini at defending but puts in a shift and has PACCEEEE!!!! and isn't terrible going forward or defending either.
Wouldn't be on massive wages and has commercial benefits as well.

I think he's improved a ton defensively this season(he's also about 3 inches bigger than Nagatomo.) if we were still in in the Champions League we would see him played more often but sadly(or luckily for my bank balance.) we ain't, I agree that Kolarov earns too much for a back-up left back, if he was up for sale I could see Juve being all over him like a cheap suit or if it's true Inter like him and we like Nagatomo there might be a swap, as others have mentioned Luke Shaw would be a great buy.

I don't think Mancini will be here. In fact, I can even see us getting a manager who more than anything is going to have a good relationship with the management team. One that is willing to cooperate, change systems and formation, probably to 4-3-3.
As much as I'd like to see a Cavani or a Falcao, I can't see it (realise this probably isn't the aim of the thread). I see Aguero being treated as the main man up front, a lone striker with players either side of him.
It's time that the scouts really earned their money this summer. We need fewer average players who simply aren't good enough - like Sinclair and Garcia - and fewer good players who either don't fit the system or can't be arsed putting a shift in. The scouts need to be looking for good players, not necessarily exceptional although it'd be a bonus, who are capable of developing into very good players, and at the time of joining will display passion and competence in whichever position they are put in by the manager.
Obviously we need more pace and width too. I appreciate Mancini doesn't play with wingers but I'm working on the basis that I don't think Mancini will be here next year.

Finally, I'm not a huge 'Yaya as a defensive midfielder' fan, in fact I'm not a fan at all, and feel that the only way we'd be able to fit him in any system alongside Silva, whether that be 4-2-2-2 or 4-3-3, would be if we had a Mascherano, Vidal or De Rossi behind them which would be highly unlikely.
He's a monster going forward as he showed last term but we've very rarely seen that side of him this year and while his passing is very good, it doesn't really press any buttons, so to speak.
In short, I can't see him extending his contract so if we could get a decent fee for him that went some way to bringing in a top winger (Bale) and a deep-lying playmaker, I'd be satisfied. Honestly.

Noticed a lot of aging Brazilian stars have gone back home in recent years, wonder if we could get our money back for Maicon from Cruzeiro or someone? Another utterly pointless signing considering how much he's been on the treatment table. Approaching £100,000/week I'm sure and don't think he's even reached 10 appearances yet, it's a joke how little some footballers do to earn money we can only dream of.
Apart from the Tottenham game at home when he came on I can´t honestly see what he has contributed to the team.
