Who's next?.

The Times have shown a few permutations showing how City might line up with Sterling in the team. They've also got a "How City might look at the end of the window" line up which also includes De Bruyne and Danny Rose. Are we interested in Rose? I dont remember City being linked with him.

I still get the feeling we are going to go for a british center midfielder if we are getting pogba I would go for ward prowse if not I can see it being barkley!

Was linked with him about 5/6 weeks ago........more than likely just paper talk.

With the Sterling deal seemingly sewn up now it'd be nice if we could get some movement on our other transfer targets, whoever they turn out to actually be. Can't help but think we're trying to move some players out the door before adding to the squad. Given we've maxed out our foreign squad contingent currently (all 17 spots can currently be filled with first team squad members) we'd need to offload at least a couple if we're looking at the likes of Pogba, Fabinho, De Bruyne etc. Plus, depending upon who actually does leave, we may well need to replace someone in those specific positions (strikers and a left back looking the most likely exitees). There's less than 4 weeks until the season starts and, despite there being a further 3 weeks until the transfer window actually closes I suspect everyone involved with City wants to do our business before the season kicks off, as bedding in new players whilst also playing competitive football and planning for matches isn't an ideal situation to find yourself in.

I think thats the hard part trying to get the Dzekos and Jovetics and others off the books. Its hard to get a good price for these players. Were being taken to the cleaners for the players we sign so even for us to try and get Dzeko sold we have to take a hit Dzeko is worth at least £20 million we be lucky to get £15 million for him because of his wages. Same with Jovetic its just hard to move them on. I wouldnt mind holding onto Jovetic think he has a lot to offer if he is injury free. Sadly he will more than likely move on.

Thats why i think we should be looking at the home grown players. I look at Ward Prowse only 20 3 years experience in the league already we can mould him into our type of player if we wanted and even a wild card for me would be Will Hughes. Not going to say they would start a lot of games but they would give competition for places in midfield. Until we sort out what players stay and go from our foreign members of the squad.

Ward-Prowse is a good call, but I think we'd get a fair amount of push back from Southampton. Given Delph was obviously a target then it's not beyond the realms of possibility that we turn our attentions Ward-Prowse's way. He'd get as much gametime as we were willing to offer Delph and, given his age, there's far greater upside in terms of progression. Imagine what he could learn over the next couple of seasons from training week in week out with the likes of Silva, Yaya, Nasri etc.

Hughes, I think, is less obvious a signing. He's young too, and hasn't played any top flight football at all. Last season he was off form for large periods and, I think, he's not ready to be part of City's squad.
