Why are we able to book tickets so far in advance

What's with the idea of being able to book tickets so far in advance now on the site, I booked tickets for the derby last night and noticed you can book up to the Arsenal game. With that game being a possible title decider didn't this system open it up to fans buying tickets maybe knowing already they can't attend but with the intension of selling nearer the time over the FV
 
Perhaps to make it easier for tourists? They can now ensure they have tickets sorted before booking travel and accommodation.
 
I can go on Ticketmaster and buy a ticket for a concert next summer.

It's "different" in footballing terms but good the club are trying something new. A longer selling period is probably easier for the ticket office to manage, and as mentioned probably helps with fans looking to make travel plans as well (tourists if you like).

Exactly. And thanks to this me and my father Will be able to take our first football trip from Denmark and come see City - Arsenal. I can't wait!
 
Brilliant idea being able to book so far in advance. Almost like the commitment made by S/T holders.
Now just hope Sky, BT Sport and cup draws don't screw your plans.
 
For the reasons given above plus maybe helping the Club to determine if there is sufficient demand to expand the North Stand. This information will add to the range of intelligence the Club already has around attendances etc.
 
I'm sure I read that they were on sale for only a limited time only (I'm sure but I can not find the article or e-mail), maybe they've done so people might get kids/family/friends tickets to some of the least popular games as a Xmas present?
 
It is similar to the half season tickets we used to sell around this time of the year, but as they have hit their limit on season cards they are now offering individual games for the remainder of the season in one hit
 
Still a problem for people buying tickets for games 2/3 months in advance, often the game will be moved for TV reasons which can affect train/travel/hotel bookings
