Why Are We Scoring So many Goals This Season?

what are we doing differently this season than last?

my thoughts...............

- not playing De Jong means we play an extra attacking midfielder

- no Tevez means the goals are more evenly spread round the team

- stronger squad means better quality subs to bring on late on when the opposition tire , hence the glut of second half goals

any other thoughts?

more attacking formation, better players and they have gelled since last season

For me this is mainly due to us attacking in numbers rather than leaving three attacking players to create and score by themselves as we did for much of last season. When you have the technical ability and firepower we have in our squad, if you find the right balance and correct work rate to both attack and defend as a team then the upshot is normally lots of goals. It's why Barca and Real Madrid are also scoring copious amounts of goals against teams who regularly park the bus.

Simply because we play an extra attacking player and they are all on the same wavelength. NDJ is now the figure whose absence is used as an example for our goalscoring yet is nonsense - it is the lack of an extra holding midfielder in general and the much needed extra attacking player. Case in point: City 4-1 Villa, De Jong played & Wolves 2-5 City, De Jong played.

Didn't you hear? It's because all of the players have ignored Mancini and decided to play attaching football.

Actually not having Tevez in the team as helped a hell of a lot. Great player if no other players can score but a hindrance when you have options.
