Why aren't there more clubs like Brighton and Brentford in England?

Two clubs who have constantly bought players cheap, improved them and sold them for major profit.

This happens all over Europe, European clubs HAVE to do it in order to compete financially with the PL. As seen with Ajax, Benfica, Porto, Monaco etc.

Why is it only two teams over here who have done it with major success? Seems like everyone else are the suckers paying inflated fees. Why is it so hard for their transfer strategies to be adopted by other, historically bigger clubs? I can understand big 6 teams having to pay inflated prices, but not the likes of Villa, Everton, Leeds, etc.

Southampton have been a feeder club to Liverpool for a while and only have struggled this season.

Your Eurooean examples are not comparable though.
The clubs you mention are at the top of their leagues and play in Euro competitions each year and have creamed the best players from lower placed sides in their own league for years.

You have to ask is there a Portuguese or Dutch team not competing in Europe / winning domestic trophies that are producing a conveyorbelt of players?

Didn't Leicester have a spell of making big money on players too? Seems to have fizzled out of late with them like.

Been a fan of the Brentford way of operating for some time.

There have been and it is not a rare occurence. Southampton? Palace? Burnley to some degree? Liverpool have been know to play the "Moneyball" system

You can't compare Brentford and Brighton with Ajax, Benfica and Porto because they are the apex predators of their leagues.
