Why aren't there more clubs like Brighton and Brentford in England?

How has it worked out for Saints who have gone from a top 10 club to almost relegation certainties in 10 years.

If clubs come in for the players & willing to offer 2 or 3 times more in wages sometimes even more, then the selling club who have bought & nutured these players, know that they have to cave (Vvd went on strike to get his move) or let them leave on a free at the end of the players contracts.
Saints, as I mentioned, didn’t put the money back into the squad, which sets them apart from Leicester, Brentford and Brighton.

If results were the owner’s number one priority, they’d have reinvested those fees

but had they been able to compete financially on wages then not being forced to sell those players that had got them where they were, then they wouldn't need to reinvest. It didn't help that Marcus Lieber passed away & when his daughter inherited Saints, from day 1 she quoted that she wasn't interested in football

Ben White went from 5,000,000 wages to 6,000,000.

Ollie Watkins went from 728,000 wage to 2,288,000.

Danny Drinkwater went from 4,784,000 wages to 5,200,000.

Jeff Schlupp went from 1,560,000 wages to 2,912,000.

Maguire and Mahrez both went from around 5k wages to around 10k. No, Leicester couldn’t have had a couple of 10k earners on their books, but they were probably laughing to the bank when they sold Maguire for 80m!

Wonder if we can add Burnley to these two soon. They raided the Belgian league really well the past two windows and are playing attractive football with it.
