I get the impression that some folk would be happier if we were playing Stockport County in the Jim Fryatt Memorial Trophy!

This is an exciting fixture, and can only help get the likes of Tevez match fit. Let's try looking on the bright side, just for once.

Its really a glorified training session. It's unlikely to be played flat out, neither team should be flying in to tackles. It will be a further chance to try different formations and for the new players to gel. It will provide the best possible opportunity to work on our biggest failing in the first half on saturday ie failing to retain possesion, against the team that are the best in the world at that skill.

Its factually incorrect to say that Tevez was a doubt to play on saturday because of injury, his problem is a lack of match practice.

The one real drawback that I can see is that the players will miss a good night's sleep.

Spot on mate, Barca want to avoid injuries just as much, if not more than we do. Doesn't their season start on Saturday? The last thing they want is Messi or Ibrahimovic (who should be making his debut) to get crocked and be out for months.

I think it'll be an entertaining game, with few full blooded tackles being made and probably a lot of substitutions.

The match also gives our new signings match time together to help them gel and the result has no bearing on the league. Players pick up knocks all the time in training , especially if Ben Haim has anything to do with it! But at the same time they aren't made of glass, injuries can happen anywhere but hopefully everyone will come back from Barca ok.

It's fantastic that City are considered 'Box Office' enough to have been asked to play in this game and even better the Club are going to stream it on the website for those of us who can't make it. It's going to be a great evening. Come on you Blues!

Forgot to add - it also means that, for a day at least, the players will not run the risk of getting tackled by TBH in training.

A superb opportunity for our team,they will see 1st hand that it's not just the skill that makes Barca a great team it's the effort that goes with it.
No football manager game invented is able to show the backbreaking effort the Barca players put in to get the ball back when they lose it.
Bellamy ran his bollocks off Saturday for lost causes, well these lot have 10 outfield players that do it.

the biggest football club in history invite us to play in their most prestiguous annual freindly the joan gamper cup

and people still fuckin moan

just cause weve started the season why is it a problem. its a great game for us to be playing. a chance for fringe players to get minutes and for the squad to get even more fitness under their belts, on top of that were playing the best football side in europe who are now at the end of their pre season, ready for the new season, hence theyll be on top form raring togo and it all adds to the expereince of where we want this football club to be heading


i cant wait. just gutted i didnt have the cash to go over!!!
