Why Can't City Win Without Yaya

It's because he is the heartbeat of the team. He keeps us ticking over, always makes himself available and forces teams to come out and mark him or he'll kill you...either with the pass or the shot.

Whenever we get into these games, he is the conductor of the rotation and space in front of him. He is constantly bringing other players into the game and pulling defenders and defensive midfielders around. Silva, and especially Nasri, LOVE playing with him, because he makes them better players and takes the load off them allowing them to move and make more opportunities for themselves and others.

Because for the past few years we have been buying players who are Europa league standard from Portugal and Russia.

This says it all sadly. Good graphic Jim. To think despite winning us long suffering Blues - two titles, FA Cup semi v rags and final, league Cup and a Charity Shield. Yet people on here slate him????

When Yaya plays we have no control in the midfield.

Xabi Alonso would have been perfect for us, someone who can dictate the play from deep.

I think we have more "presence" than we have otherwise though.
We can have a solid midfield that can dictate but it would need Milner and Fernandinho to pick and choose when to bomb on more with Yaya and Silva.
Also there is Lampard who can control whole matches on his own to so we have the tools.

I posted the stat with games without Yaya in past 5 years, and the difference with/without Yaya is 12 points per full 38 game season. Last year that would have being the difference between 1st and 5th in the league. Without Kompany there was no negligible difference while without Silva the team actually performed better.

It is very easy to see why the team does much better. First and most important Yaya makes himself available for pass all over the field. This why it is frustrating when people say he is lazy. Takes lots of effort to always get into open space and receive the ball. The other important factor is that his passing and decision making is the best in the world. It is the simple passes that opens up teams that park the bus.

Think most of that is down to which games he's rested in

Agree about Yaya. He has been the best PL player over the last half decade

It's incredibly frustrating isn't it? But when you see what he offers, there's no else like him https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dTlzYkLnsi4

Because he is our best passer of the ball (probably the best in the prem) , our who game is based around him, he takes the ball from defence or DM he sets up nasri and silva and our whole play goes through him.

Because alone he has the ability to drop a 60 yard ball in to Sergio, because alone he has the ability to run straight trough the middle of a whole team, because in full flight he is incredibly strong and capable of being very direct, because he alone can smash the ball in from 30 yards out whilst the ball is moving.

He is far and away our most important and most versatile player and he can break up tight games.

When we replace him with Pogba we need them to play together for a year or two.

The feckin clowns who abuse yaya and belittle his performance , who want him gone don't know football or don't care about winning

YaYa is the only City midfielder who will run at the opposition and the only City midfielder to shoot given the chance.

We won two titles from centre midfield with yaya by far the best there in the country! I hope the above is either sarcasm or comedy - if not i despair

I agree. If anyone wants to know his value to City then look at City before and during the ACON. He might not go charging around the pitch, but he knows how to tae control.

He should be made Captain in my opinion, because the current one doesn't want to know

He'd want bigger cake this year after seeing how much we miss him.

Even I couldn't deny that he deserves the present of having a slice of cake each placed on the pussies of 72 virgins.

Thanks a lot Fernando!

We can't win because no other player offers us the level of control he does. We have nobody other than Yaya who can dictate the play from deep. We need a deep lying playmaker this summer, last year Xabi Alonso would have been perfect.

That could be tricky, trying to find 72 virgins in Manchester!

Hahahaha very true, hopefully because we are a mass... I MEAN global club, we can search the four corners of the Earth for them. Must be easier than finding players who can settle into a club and maintain their place in the starting line-up/not get subbbed at half time against Hull because they are fucking shite.

This thread should be re-named why can't we win with Fernando. Ya Ya is the man who takes the ball box to box or splits a defence with a killer forward pass. Fernando slows everything down and plays sideways or backwards. This is why our home form is poor. We are not moving the ball fast enough. The worry for me is: what will we do when Ya Ya, who is already slowing down, leaves us? There are no obvious replacements for him so we will have to change our style completely. Pogba is probably the nearest to Ya Ya but he is not as effective.

Pogba is 21.
