Why did de Jong go off?

Definately ankle...Booby mentions it in the post match interview on the OS...Doesn't say how serious it might be.

Rest him until the derby and then release the beast!!!

i would guess the soldier in him let him play the rest of the half, and doctors at half time said concussed

He was concussed ........ at one point in the first half Barry actually shouted across to Bobby Manc that "Nigel's seeing stars and he doesn't even know who he is ?" ........ Bobby Manc shouted back "in that case tell him he's Pele and push him up front" ............

The coat is on and the door is closing behind me

That actually made me laugh, very funny

I watched him very closely at every opportunity from the time he came back on after the head clash with Richards until half time on reply twice and he was favouring his right leg slightly and not taking some of the passes in the link up to the opposition half than he would have done and was before the incident.

I didn't see him challenged by an opposition player during that time so he may have received a knock in the ankle before the 28 minute mark or thereabouts and it started to swell when left immobile.

I am no doctor and he strikes me as being tough as nails with his lower centre of gravity helping him in that regard so it must have been more than precautionary I would suggest.

I would like to think that he will be available for the derby at worst ( I doubt he will in the side against Notts County ( bench at best ) even if available ) so I am not too concerned just yet but Mancini thought on early diagnosis that AJ would miss only three games so we shall see.

Take the coat off K2K, bravo

On slow-motion replay it looked like he was actually knocked out as well. For a moment when he first hits the ground his body actually went limp. Unfortunate for the ankle because even in his battered state he was still surely better than Patrick.

His ankle probably swelled and tightened up at the break. Someone mentioned the right ankle, but from that picture it looks like it would have been the left. Unless the knock occurred earlier.

Good question, if it's concussion then he'll be joining Richards on the sidelines for the WesT Brom game. If that means Mancini starts Vieira then it can only be a very, very bad thing.

hopefully if it comes to it we'll go with Barry, Milner, Yaya.
