Why did QPR kick the ball back to us after Dzeko scored?

I found it strange as there were still 4 minutes left to give us the ball back straight from the whistle.

But surely if they wanted to waste time, they would knock it around between a few players, and if the pressure was too much, THEN they'd hoof it.
