why do we always attack the family stand in the 2nd half?

It's been doing my fucking head in for years, how many late goals have we scored in front of half empty and drab family stands (not saying the SS is perfect by any means)?

i know, i mean that scrappy crap goal in injury time against QPR in 2012 was against a lack lustre family stand eh..

;)

Seriously though, sick of these threads coming up every few months, and it always seems to be people who sit at the south stand end who want 2nd half goals, when tbh we score plenty as things are! Don't know if any of you ever go to the EDS but even the EDS and u18s kick off attacking the south end first half and the north the 2nd half at the academy stadium, it must be ingrained into the philosophy.

To be honest, it's not broke, so why fix it?!

(And yes, i'm half way between the half way line and the family stand and quite like all the 2nd half action at this end thank you very much!! ;))

A couple of hundred spotty teenagers playing at being hardmen while stood behind the bouncers doesn't constitute an atmosphere.

The North Stand was brilliant the other night.

This topic comes up so often probably because the family stand is shit, makes no noise and is half empty.

What?

We keep beating up our own women and children?

The Blazin Squad are fuckin shithouses!! Tell them to come and try their luck with the South Standers, they'll show em what's what!!

Our home end should have been the North stand but too many of our fans prefer baiting the away fans for 90 mins so we end up with the South stand being the home and away end.
The club placed the away hoi polloi next to ours on purpose to create a better atmosphere as opposed to piping in crowd sounds through the PA system to lift the mood.

Erm, how would we determine if 'it' was 'broken'?!

I sit/stand in south stand and never hear this come up as conbersation. Quite happy to have us attacking SS first half and now it's a set system it doesn't need changing as that would be bad karma, leave it as it is.

How about 2 prem titles in the time frame that we've had that rule?! And a billion goals scored (ok, not so much this season but still..!). Counts as not broken to me.
You genuinely think the end we attack first has a bearing on the result??

I'm saying just mix it up for the sake of it

Of course not! But my original post was in reply to someone more or less saying that scoring goals "against an empty family stand" is a waste and the players wont like it.... i was merely pointing out that was bollocks and we haven't exactly done bady have we.

Still argue that counts as not being broken ;) Didn't we attack the other way once in the last few seasons, and lost? Seem to remember everyone then saying we should stick to the north for the 2nd half ;)

Still argue it's only people in the south stand who want the change, after all they are the only true fans of the club (isn't that what they say?!)

;)

Is it not as simple as where the changing rooms are placed? We always walk out to the left while the away team is to the right. Also Our bench is on the left facing the pitch while the away is on the right.

I'd prefer them to shoot towards the southstand in the second half just so all the empty seats aren't visible.

Realistically they most likely won't change, but as someone mentioned earlier surely it would be nice to swap it around every once in a while?

Which end we attack depends on the toss-up before the start. Most away sides, if winning the toss, leave it the way the home team choose. Loosing the toss means you kick-off first.
