Why do we keep getting HAMMERED? What is our training regime exactly.

Mancini had us organised, winning the FA cup and finishing 3rd, while playing the Europa and with a weaker squad than we currently had. In the next season, we went on to thrash the spuds, dippers and rags. He has won and will win more trophies than Pellers, as he is the better manager.

100% agree. Never was a big fan of Mancini but fuck me he's like God compared to the current one dimensional old man.

I think our training regime consists of ...

1) Delph "Anyone fancy a game of 7 a side?"
2) Everyone else "YEAH!!!"
3) Shower

They had better not stick that we fight til the end bollocks on the big screens before Saturday's game. What a load of bollocks that is.

City are too lightweight. Front four of Navas, Silva, Sterling and Aguero is about 40 stone of dribbling around and few bursts of speed and nary a tackle amongst them. When THREE OF THEM are being asked to match up against an aggressive, hunting in packs, midfield FIVE, it just makes the job of F&F impossible. From there, we are ONE THROUGH BALL AWAY from the ubiquitous (and usually quite successful!) offside trap being sprung. It is how they beat us at the Etihad AND Candlefield.

Goal 1: on target shot that somehow found the corner
Goal 2: Milner cutting through defence with Otamendi on vacation chasing Firminho out to their right wing
Goal 3: Vince not holding the offside line and a well timed ball beating the trap

Nothing earth shattering in the goals (other than the good fortune of the first two!), but allowing the back four to be OVERRUN has been our biggest weakness all season.

The teams that are flying are ALL defending from the front and pressing the opposition to send up a 50/50 ball. Klopp simply has his team pressing high, so the keeper/defender has to hoof it (50/50) and then they fight to get the ball turning the 50/50 into a 70/30, and then take it from there. The number of ACTUAL TACKLES we make in a game can be counted on one hand. We nick the occasional ball, intercept our fair charge, but rarely tackle to win the ball, unless it is a last ditch tackle in our last 25 yards. That said, it would be nice to see Otamendi NOT try to tackle quite so recklessly while on his arse. Never seen a player slide so much, with so little positive results. Going to ground SHOULD be the last ditch challenge, not the "I made my mind up when you were 15 yards away, so here I come" kind of tackle!

With a fully fit, up for it, team, we can beat anyone on our day. We are so far from being either fully fit or up for it that it is exacerbating the holes and magnifying the losses of personnel. It has been discussed for the last few seasons, but seems to have been shelved in favor of just labeling us as shit, but we have a VERY OLD SQUAD OF PLAYERS with very few young players able to get a game, because every game is considered vital at the moment. We apparently have genuine 2016/17 first team squad members out on loan right now, with a few others who might be able to make some impact, but the list of what we need is growing every day.

1 reserve keeper (like to see junior keeper promoted as a real backup and stop this "Cup keeper" nonsense)
2 full backs, minimum. Maybe one incoming, one promotion from the ranks..Angelino?
1 centre half, probably Denayer
2 Champions League quality midfielders, minimum.
1 wide player
2 forwards

The players who I don't think will cut the mustard for Pep:

Willy
Zaba
Kolarov
Sagna*
Clichy*(gonna have to keep at least two of them, so I picked 'em!)
Fernando
Nasri*
Yaya
Delph*
Sterling*
Navas
Bony

* Ones I would keep for cover, but it all depends upon squad rules for foreign vs domestic player counts, based on incoming players.

One thing we never do in training is throwing routines, always taken slowly to allow the opposition time to man mark, then throw a high ball to our midget forwards, lost possession,Corners, never a surprise in swinging corner, always an out swinging one.the tempo of passing the pass takes an age to reach its target, and don't get me started on heading the ball, always to the opposition.Thelast thing is when you next get a chance of watching a City game is how often we win the ball only to lose it straight away,in a 50/50 tackle we rarely win the rebound.Rant over still pixxed off.

An interesting question Pam. We used to have Doug doing the training reports for the fans when he watched over the fence at Carrington, quite interesting but none of that know.

I would imagine there won't be any of the aggression we used to see reported in the press in the past, ala Mancini, Balotelli, Boeteng etc, when we had aggression in the team. I'm not sure we have enough guys ready to mix it at the moment and we've become a bit soft. We have all the skill, but to dominate midfield we need to win battles with numbers. Yaya is crucial to that and I would love to see Gow, Morrison or Doyle in there winning the battles. It's all rather too nice at the moment.

We run about 5 km less than the opposition do each game. We don't retain the ball as well as we did and we have no midfield.

We definitely practice corners. We are far too adept at hitting really high floaty outswingers. I think that is all we practice.

The team is just too old.
yep ,thats about the jist of it ,are we really surprised that after kiev away,a cup final with extra time that we went to anfield 3 days later and looked shagged, young fresh blood is coming but i will never forget this team and all the joy it has brought me

We keep getting hammered because we have no backbone. Last night ws typical of it.

All talk has been Kompany missing etc etc the defence are shit... Bullshit! The stats point to the fact that we dont win away from home enough, we dont beat the top teams at all! We struggle in the CL against difficult teams.

We have no backbone, we get the jitters and fold over as soon as the opposition score first. If we score first we seem to play better and build on the confidence, but so often it seems the other teams score first then we struggle.

All of that is mindset, it is down to the manager, he should be firing those players up before they go out. It isnt tactics or defence or individual players. It isnt yaya not being arsed or aguerro being fit... It's having the bollox and passion to fight hard enough before they have even got onto the pitch

The only players I see that from are Hart, Kompany, Yaya... It isnt enough.

Mp has said a few times they played to fast and he sends them out to be patient and i assume he expects the quality to shine so we start slow and keep going behind, pep will have them straight at it from the off

Too many injuries, meaning those not injured are getting tired or taking longer to recover.
Also, many of our best players are now old, like Zab, Yaya and Silva - they're just not as good as they were, or can't be as good consistently.

We need some young, hungry fighters in the team, with plenty of pace and attitude. Players who will get in opponents' faces and refuse to allow shit wankers like Lallana to dictate a game.

Sterling is good, fast and young but seems a bit soft. We need some very talented, angry gobshites in the team. Players who believe it's their right to win and won't accept defeat. We are too nice and it's killing us. How we could do with a player like Tevez, or a younger version.

Ideal signings for me would be Pogba, Alaba, Aubameyang and Stones, with someone like Gundogan to add some steel in midfield. We have to be hugely ambitious with signings, not only to make up for so many average and shit signings in recent years but also to get back that aura we had about us when Mancini was manager, and to be worthy of getting a manager like Pep in for. No point having the best coach in the world if he has to polish Fernando, Navas and Otamendi is it.

You can do as much coaching as you want, plan for every tactic and opposition players. Once the players are on that pitch it is largely out of Pellegrini's control. We will have games like we did last night under Pep. We should batter every team in this league pretty much, for various reasons the players almost decide when they want too.

its the formation, certain players in positions and the style of play. Its no coincidence that any team can beat us.

Each game should be treated differently, set up a team to beat the opposition on that day. Pellegrini ignores this and plays the same way and we get beat. We are too predictable. Pellegrini doesnt careless, he's off, he's won a cup, he will just coast till the end now .... not like he has the fear of losing his job, is it?

One thing we don't practise is what to do from the kick off ,so many times we kick off and within 10-15 seconds the opposition are in our penalty area

We have one approach which worked well until the weak points and players got exploited and sussed.
Teams just watch this and repeat.

High line requires a modus of play that our players are sometimes too tired to execute for every game and every minute.

We have no plan b to tackle this fatigue because the players are asked play in this way all the time because this is Pellegrinis way.

Rotation of players could help but rarely does this happen and when it does, we are too far back to make a difference.

Our Players slow down in a system that requires them to press and that's when other team slam through our midfield to a defence that is unable to tackle a surprise blitz through to goal .

Pellegrini will never sacrifice offence play and for that we will not get higher than second (if we are lucky)

Its the midfield mate.

The source of many of our ills this season. Slur Alex was slow to replace his and it was pretty disastrous for them as they're still trying to figure it out. We need to be bang on it this summer and make sure we get it rebuilt in one window. We have a head start with KDB and Raheem already in.
