Why do you think we will win the semi final?

Nearly everyone on this board (me included) seems to think we are going through to the final. I suppose every team and its supporters goes into derby games with the impression they can win but for some reason im so confident we will beat them in a few weeks time.

There is no denying they are one of the best teams in England and are, at the moment, a better team than us (going on league points etc). So why are you convinced we will beat them?

At the moment two pretty major reasons I can think of:

Granny shagger is out
We are bang in form

Im not intending this thread to be negative or anything, just asking the question.

Rooney is a huge loss for them.

I don't think we should be jumping the gun though, we haven't beaten them since the first leg of the Carling cup last season, although we are due a win.

Which means I avoid being crestfallen, and should the incredible happen, it hightens the buzz ten fold.

Oh dear.
Up until the home game against Kiev I was convinced we were not only going to win the FA cup, but the Europa and the League.
Since then my confidence has ebbed away.
Dont get me wrong I still want us to win, will still be attending and still cheering, but I do have this feeling its all going to go horribly wrong.

Mind you had the same feeling travelling up Blackburn in 2000, so its not all bad

I never think we're going to win derbys but I'm confident about this one for a number of reasons.
Firstly and most importantly, the performance against S'land. For once, Mancini put square pegs in square holes and the improvement was huge. It should of shown the gaffer how much better we are without the rigid midfield of Barry and De Jong and how good we can be when we take the game to other teams. Remember that S'land had drawn at Arsenal the week before. Hopefully we see a performance of similar intent aggainst the scousers and we should go into the Wembley semi full of confidence. Mancini must stick to what we're best at, why shouldn't we have a go at an inferior and injury ravaged liverpool side?
Another reason is their loss of Rooney, who after a very poor season, has hit a sustained period of form. He's a huge loss, thrives on the big occasion and although they've plenty of quality going forward, I'd delighted at him not being there.
Lastly, it has to be our day sometime. It's written in the stars blues, fucking get in to them!!
