Why doesn't Adam Johnson start EVERY game?

posted this on another thread but seeing as its relevant.

Last week Johnno had a bit of a stinker at Chelsea, SWP came on and ran them ragged, then had a good game for England, Mancio made the right decision to go out there and let him prove himself. Shauny bottled it and AJ stepped up to the plate. AJ to start next game for me, good bit of management by Mancio IMO.

Bang on
agreed

Johnson has started more games on the pitch than on the subs bench since he came to us. Today was different because Johnson played poorly in our last game against Chelsea. Shaun did quite well. Also Shaun did quite well for England the other day, so all things considered starting Shaun today seemed sensible. Unfortunately he played quite badly today and when Johnson came on he impressed, so Johnson will start next game and Shaun will be on the bench. No one should be guaranteed a place on the first team, and what Mancini is doing is correct- making the players work for there place.

Agreed. Shaun finishing today was poor. So did RSC, Bellers, Tevez, etc.
My question is did he gave his efforts? Did he tired out the opponents. Did he hemmed them in their half?
Having said that when a fresh sub comes in he will someways benefit from his predecessor's contributions. No?

He's young, he's fit, he lights the pitch up, he can play on the left or right and...................he has just scored while I have been typing this..........:-))

I pointed this out before the game and got zero support.

Johnson should be starting over SWP

watched the game today, and can honestly say for a man wanting a chunky pay rise, SWP certainly wasnt playing "out of his skin". to be honest, he hasnt been the same since he returned, he wont run at his defender and generally provides little threat for the majority of games. however, when adam johnson came on, he was absolutely amazing, took the piss out of the full back and scored a magnificent goal. for me, he is a definite starter vs fulham, especially if we are persisting with 3 DM's not providing much threat. just my piece

p.s ive only came online so not sure if its already had a thread. please merge if so

Johnson all the way

Re: Johnson should be starting over SWP

He beat his man several times, only to have 3 defenders around him and no support.

Johnson looked better because the whole team was pushing up to get the equaliser, so he had more options.

And no, this isn't a post slagging Johnson, it's a post defending SWP.

Beats his man with ease most of the time, if and when his final pass/cross gets better he will be some player.
