Why haven’t Manchester City become the "super club" they should be?

We need to win an awful lot more, esp CL (more than once) before we are even close to being considered a 'superclub' - and that's going to take time.
We're still very much new kids on the block, and whilst progress has been impressive, there's a long way to go yet.

But - what does it really matter? we support City, and don't care what others thing about our stature in the footballing hierarchy. We don't support a team for status do we? If we wanted that, most of us would have chosen Liverpool or United as kids.

This.

These things will take time, regardless of the amount of funds at your disposal. I think you need to settle on a manager for a while (Pep). I'm talking 5 or so years. Let him build/shape his squad, you'll certainly win something with him.

You managed to cement yourself as a top 4 club, and actually are title challengers year in year out (mostly). Next step is to make your European footprint known.
