Why is there not a statue of Yaya?

Couldn’t care less about a statue really, I’ll settle for remembering his brilliance.
This. I’m not into statues at all (apart from Frank Sidebottom’s because it doesn’t take itself too seriously) though the Bell, Lee and Summerbee effort 50 years on I’m happy with. The other three were made way, way too soon and has set the precedent that unfortunately now allows the question to be raised asking “what about Yaya / Rodri / KdB / Scott Carson / Brendan the kit man…”.

Sod the kit man

Let's commission the same artist who made the Keown one for Yaya because he deserves it.

Yes. Carlos Tevez was the blue touchpaper that set City off on our current path.
Doesn't make him a better player than the other two.

You could say the big man got us out of League Two and he lit that blue touch paper years before Tevez

Btw Tevez was a great/fantastic player but also sullied his reputation but KDB and Silva are certainly more worthy in the statue stakes.

Late to this thread but all probably been covered already.

On the pitch - brilliant, big moment player who really put us to that next level. Last couple of years not as good but a good few years he was key to our successes. That 13-14 season was obviously very good but that is where some of his issues which tarnish his reputation a bit begins.

That summer had his agent flirting in the media with PSG, off the back of winning the league and a great season, he is flirting with other clubs and obviously cake gate. The thing missed with the cake is he was actually given one on a flight by City. His agent called the shots and done all of his talking and instead of putting him straight he allowed him to act like a bell end and spread shite stories about Pep and calling him racist. Yaya also lied about not being given leave when his brother died something which City deny and considering the compassionate leave our club has allowed others, I will side with City and not the compulsive liar on that one. Oh, lets not forget his agent putting a curse on Pep to not win the CL apparently. Pep handled him correctly when he arrived, demanded an apology from Yaya and his agent otherwise he wouldn't play. So many things with Yaya which means he would be bottom of the list of any statue and he should count himself lucky City got him a plaque.

Amazing player, a bit of a tosser of a man and his agent even worse - something Yaya enabled.

I don't give a toss about statues. False idols.

We don't know any of these people other than by what we witnessed with our own eyes. Everything else is third hand gossip, rumour, and exaggeration.

Tevez was the fuse, Yaya and Sergio were the bombs. Easily the best period of (modern era) football I've witnessed at City was when those three played together.

Yaya was the best. The King.

tbf you are posting all this stuff in a thread about statues?

So, in that time period, what was David Silva?

Genuine question, he joined in 2010 the same as Yaya, outlasted him, was more consistent than him but seemingly, one of the greatest midfielders the PL has ever seen doesn't seem to matter to you, I find that bizarre, I don't find it bizzare that you rate the three you mention, brilliant players but you keep ignoring the mention of David Silva's impact

For me, Silva was the guy who made this team tick.

Because he wasn’t at City for ten years.

As great as he was - and in his prime, he was arguably the best midfielder in the world - he didn’t reach the decade, as Merlin, Sergio, Vinnie and KdB did, and that seems to be the criterion for a statue.

Even Fernandinho, who was peerless in his position, didn’t get a statue, probably because he was "only" here for nine seasons.

Fair comment but I really don't think that Silva's arrival was as explosive as the three I have named. He was a slow burn, a great player but, like De Bruyne, he didn't excite me like Yaya, Tevez and Aguero. They were beyond world class imo.
All about opinions
:-)
