Why is there not a statue of Yaya?

I think with Silva, Kompany & Aguero you have three stupidly good players that feel like they gave their all to Manchester City AND completed 10 years. Yaya is a footballing god in the same way but didn't complete 10 years and I wasn't upset when he left in the same way as those 3 - I think we loved him more than he loved the club.
I don't think you should just get a statue just for ability otherwise we'd need one of Mahrez's first touch.

You could make an argument for Yaya based on those important goals and games etc but the iconic goal is 93:20 and for every game he was spectacular he also looked a bit less bothered in the next. He should have been putting up Lampard and Gerrard numbers consistently but he only did in 13/14. Absolutely in top 10 players I've ever seen at City though - two footed, powerful but also capable of delicacy, smart and instinctive. We were blessed to see him and I put him in Tevez territory - joined when they were too good for us but didn't keep up with the progress the club was making.

You'd think it would be a problem for our owners, then, no?

Also, didn't Saddam Hussein have a statue of himself?
Always heard he turned it down due to that fact, hence the question about it. No idea on the in/outs of it or the rules etc (statue of oneself)

If I were a betting man, I would suggest 'if' he did say that, it was to save face for the fact he hasn't got a statue because that is the kind of guy he comes across as tbh.

Anyway thank fuck I'm not religious, far to many weird rules and laws knocking about for a figment of people's imagination.

It would be a shame to knock mine down ;)

Make no mistake, Yaya was the pioneer….the catalyst, the leader on the pitch above all others.

The bloke that took it to those red twats and showed we meant business.

Though it absolutely pains me to say it because I’m his biggest fan. But calling Pep a racist and Cakegate (less so) fucked his legacy.

Shame as he was an absolute colossus on the pitch, unplayable many many times.

A statue will never be built for him.

Still think that was our best ever performance at OT. We totally controlled that game from start to finish. And Yaya was immense that night.
The sick swan down at the bottom of my garden says hello.

To be fair, for the first 20 - 25 minutes, the rags could claim to be the better side on that glorious occasion. In the 3-0, didn't Edin score in the first couple of minutes (was it a rebound off the post)?

Won us the FA cup in 2011 and a major contribution to winning the league a year later. For this alone he is a legend, but does a statue really matter, I don't think so.

Statue's symbol's greatest and a moment in time, So Yaya would have been top of the list for me and well before the other 3. But I agree, it doesn't really matter

The most obvious reason is that (to all intents and purposes) we got 4 good seasons out of him. Dave, Kun, Kompers and Kev each gave us 10
Shouldn't we wait on these statues - it's become a "thing" recently. As others have said, before you know it you're dodging them on the way to the ground.
Yaya isn't even in the equation as far as I'm concerned.
