Why is there not a statue of Yaya?

The whole "cakegate" episode was farcical. He should have slapped that twat of an agent down; that he didn't implies that he agreed with Seluk. Also, accusing Pep of being a racist. He came out the other side of that saga looking like a petulant twat. Could you see any of the lads who have statues in their honour bitching about not getting a birthday cake?

Yaya was a great player for us and really important.
He was certainly one of the best midfielders I've seen,. He did though come as a mature player and his length of service as a great player wasn't that long.
From memory he did get something named after him possibly a youth training pitch?

It was never about the cake, the trip to AD when his brother was dying which he didn't want to be on. He got a small cake on the plane then SM cut one the size of a pool table celebrating his achievement.

Not in that bracket. If you gave him one you’d have to give Zabba, Hart and the likes all one.

He’s one of our best ever players, no mistake - and a very important part of the club’s history. That goal v the rags in the semi was the moment where everything changed. He’s In that tier just below the statue crew along with Zaba.

Main reason he’s not in the top echelon is just longevity. He was an absolute world-beater for about 4 seasons but he did come to us at the tail end of his career. We were lucky to get him in just before he hit his absolute peak in his late 20s.

One of the blue all weather pitches I think.

Absolutely fantastic player came across as a bit of a twat as a bloke.
A mate of mine used to work at a petrol station in Wilmslow he went into a lot.
Apparently he was nice, quiet and always put £20 in the charity box.

I get £20 is nothing to him, but he didn’t have to do it.

IMHO he deserves one, he was the catalyst that made us great.

When we needed someone to step up, Yaya always stepped up

Should he have a statue?
Think you may have your answer?

I loved Yaya, amazing player on his day. Scored some of our most important goals but unfortunately had a tainted legacy due to some of the nonsense that went on around him.

He has a mosaic and a pitch named after him at the CFA and that’s probably about right. Absolutely fantastic player ……. But not legend status unfortunately.

Absolute colossus of a player and his place in our history can’t be ignored: his Wembley goals, Newcastle away, Villa at home, his free kicks, the way he humbled Rooney. It’s a genuine tragedy it finished like it did. He’s also a former African player of the year and one of our early shouts for the Ballon D’or.

Very few of us know what really happened re ‘Cakegate’ and his disrespecting of Pep. Statue or not, in terms of ability and impact, he’s up there with Kev, Vinny, Sergio and David Silva. If Beckham can get a knighthood then maybe there’s still hope for Yaya’s statue.

The most obvious reason is that (to all intents and purposes) we got 4 good seasons out of him. Dave, Kun, Kompers and Kev each gave us 10
He perhaps may of had a statue if he and his agent behaved themselves but they tried putting the club in a bad light. Big no no that.

I think 10 seasons should be a prerequisite for a statue. And only if a player has been impeccable on and off the pitch. Pep will be the next to have one. I think his statue should be put on a big fuck you plinth high above the north stand with a big cigar in his gob. Every time we score the end glows, like this.
