Why is there not a statue of Yaya?

i am definitely not going to agree with you. very different players but one of them won player of the season.
One of them had a great season and one of them is a living City legend mate. Loved Yaya but he isn’t in the same class as Silva. We really have been spoiled when this is an argument.

‘a great season’ thats just not true - he was the main fulcrum of the team for 5 years at least, and literally won us our first 3 cups on his own as well as clutch goals against newcastle for the title.

we could generally manage without Silva who was regularly injured but we would collapse without Yaya - which wasnt very often as the guy barely got for injured for us and the most famous time he did we immediately conceded two goals and nearly threw the title away…. i will concede Dave went on to become a Pep centurion in out best ever team but even then he was, you will admit, overshadowed by De Bruyne

its all opinion so i’ll leave this with you

his top 20 goals reel is better than messi and ronaldo

You’re entitled to have your favourite player mate. But check out how many goals and assists David has against the top teams. He practically scored in most derby’s, nearly every time we played Arsenal, big goals in Europe, against Liverpool, Chelsea. He made Raheem look world class for years. I bet if you asked the players there would be no debate.

im not knocking dave, im just making the argument Yaya was a unique talent where as Silva is a type of footballer you see often. right now in our team alone we are trying to force Foden into being a David Silva - and we even have another Silva who is incredibly similar.

Regularly injured?

David Silva, only one season with less than 40 games, Jesus fucking christ, what a shite way to try and make an argument

Yaya, 1 absolute stand-out world-class season, 2 excellent, 2very good ones and the last 3 he was dropping off, very badly in the 2nd last and then utterly unfit in his last one.

Football is all about opinions mate, it would be shit if we all thought the same.As I said earlier, loved Yaya, he was unplayable on his day. I was having a heated debate the other day with a fellow blue, I said Haaland was nowhere near the level of Sergio and he nearly combusted.

The best quote I’ve heard someone say about Silva mate.
“When football becomes art”

Let's face it. Yaya was stunning at times and crucially important in our first two PL wins. Arguably the best player in the league 13/14 but he dropped his level by half after that.
Still had incredible qualities but hardly ever did they all marry up at the same time after that.
I believe he'd have deserved a suitable accolade on his departure but for that fucking idiotic shit he pulled in his later days. It went way beyond burning bridges, he fucking nuked them !
Such a shame but what's done is done.

Better than Messi's 20 best? That's quite an hiperbole

I LOVE Yaya btw
Tevez deserves a statue, but he is Tevez so there will be reasons to not give it to him too

2010-2015 he was great - look at the goals. thats what i was referring to. compare the injury records if you want he did not stay fit like Yaya did. again im not knocking Dave but people on here are making the argument he was miles better. for the team we had especially in the early days Yaya was the talisman.

Brilliant player

Fundamental to our early sucesss

Was very easy on the eye due to his languid style and probably my favourite player for a number of years

However , him and his agents comment leave him off the pantheon of City all time greats

Salah seems to be also going down the same path with the scousers.
Mike Doyle will always be,and rightly so a legendary figure in our history
This despite the fact he jumped at the chance to talk to matt busby about a move to utd.
Now....no one ever talks about this fact damaging his legacy, but the truth is ,as set out in his own biography,he wanted leave City for our bitterest rivals utd....credit to Doyle for his honesty!

Now....how does that off the pitch issue compare with Yaya wanting a cake and being done for drink driving........?

My argument is...stick to the football! Off the field issues do not come into it...why keep bringing up off the field issues when the issue is Football.
There should definitely be a statue of Yaya, for he was the heartbeat of our side for years,
As was Colin Bell and Mike Doyle...
Id have sanctioned a statue for Yaya straight after the Newcastle away mid week game we had to win to get that 2012 Title...I was there that night and you couldn't have a better example of how one man invigorated the whole team, scoring not one but two goals to smash the Geordies on their own back yard.
Legend!!
